Ick. This might be something more simple-minded garageband users would enjoy, but it's way too limited for me.

im a garageband user, simply because i can't afford anything else, and just because i do use it, doesn't mean i'm simple minded. And i will eventually save up for some way better tools. The song i posted i while ago was made on garageband. But i still throw up at even the interface and everything else of the orange mixer.

OK then. If you want me to be fair, I'll just say that because you're a garageband user, you have no where near the production knowledge that you have no way of knowing due to garageband's limitations and are unaware of the sonic possibilities available in more modular software and therefore not desirous of them and content to deal with this peice of shit. How about that?

I was broke as hell when I was your age, I was just resourceful enough to pirate stuff like everyone else. Now I deal with hardware almost exclusively though, so whatever. If you like it fine, but it still seems to eb the general concensus that those more knowledgeable about music production software throw up at the limitations orange mixer places on your creativity, and believe it or not, this stuff is noticeable in the finished projects. I won't say yours is bad (it could use a bit better mixing), but still I can't say it's anything original, that say, providing people with wav samples and allowing them to constuct remixes in their own setups would allow.

I get where your comin' from, but I have an idea of what I'm missing out on, but since I don't know exactly, I wouldn't be able to put into words. So with all of this said, anyone know what software/hardware would be good for a beginner like me to get?

Excuse me, but it doesn't take a crapload of fancy hardware or software to produce a fun and interesting song. "Put Your Hands Up In The Air" is a great song -- but do you realize how simplistic it is, "sonically" ...?

It's a poor man who blames his tools.

And for the record, TJ, I thought that considering the limited ability of the Orange mixer, your mix was pretty damn good.

Let me be the judge if your remix is top, Prochem.

For the record: a bad mix of BRB is considered blasphemy, so it better be good, or else...

Oh well excuse me evermin, I must not be any good at making music because I'm not content to arrange howevermany tracks of loops over the internets and call it a proper remix, because when I heard about this contest I had an actual creative vision about what I thought I'd do with the mix only to find myself limited to arranging a few tracks of loops. Doesn't even have any fucking effects let alone filters....

Designer_voodoo=big spender.

Yeah, garageband may come with MacOs, but dont pull this "when i was your age crap". More like, "when i was in your range of working class". Dude, im a student worker, with 3 keyboards, turntables, and a mixer, and $50,000 worth of music software. I paid a total of $600 for everything. THe ony thing that was used were 2 keyboards and the turntables+mixer. Dont give us that when i was your age crap.

Orange mixer maybe trash, but we still gotta use to to come up with somethin tasty, like whirly sez.

Garageband can do some sweet shiat. So can any bit of hardware. But if you suck, and your some lame producer, your hardware/software is only as good as the user. Some peeps spend a lot of money on a killer moog, only to waste their shiet talent and let dust collect.

Guy's post got deleted. I'm still replying to it, but whatever. Maybe he got banned... Hmm...

AnalogSneaker, try posting shit that makes sense. Where in this thread did I say anything about paying for software? Based on what you've posted I'm guessing you pirate stuff too... I doubt you even know what the fuck you're talking about, I'm 16, I'm no rich bastard with a house full of moogs, I'm a kid who pirated reason then decided he wanted some synths. I'm not even saying you need to go out and get the best software or hardware there is, I'm just saying this orange mixer software is the most limiting shit I've ever used. You can't be completely subjective about all this: If I hand you a rock and say "make music with it" you're obviously not going to be coming up with anything other than a simple percussion line. Can I really fucking blame you for that? No. Any software that lets you import external audio would be fine. I'm sure if you tried all day, you could come up with something good in orange mixer. In the same way, you could also paint the mona lisa out of different shades of dog shit. It just might take longer, smell worse, and be terribly frustrating. In the end, 90% of music software is free, and I think it's fair to say that orange mixer is BY COMPARISON the worst audio program I've ever used. If there weren't anything better, I might not consider it so bad, but the fact is, there's much better available at the same price if you aren't scared of the FBI. If you've tried any of these, you'll pretty obviously see that the realm or creative possibilities is vastly opened by them with a little knowledge. I understand what you might be trying to say about the contraints of working in a limited environment leading to productivity, but in all honesty, anyone who professionally makes remixes will certainly not be using orange mixer anytime soon. If you want to know why, too bad, becase the second you ask them they'll just laugh in your face. But maybe if you're lucky, they'll answer seriously and tell you the basic facts: ORANGE MIXER IS TOO LIMITING BY COMPARISON TO OTHER MUSIC SOFTWARE. Which you basically can't argue against.

Umm, i agree dude. Orange mixer is shit. Ive said that. I just get upset when people start raggin on peoples for something they cant help, such as lack of financial support. God damn you people on here are morons.

No on said i like orange mixer, OR garage band. They suck yes. I dont own, or use neither, but for this "remix competetion" one must.

yes, yes, we're all morons, you've made your stance perfectly clear, now then, if we're all morons, would you like to clarify why you're here? Do you feel like you fit in?

I'm not ragging on TJ for lack of financial support, learn to read. I told him to illegally download software for free, not buy it. That's what one CAN do to help himself regardless of his position.

wrapping it all up:

the whole remix EBW9 thing is a load of shit, and its being released as a digital download... not a good prize.

Tj, i have listned to your music, i didn't like it very much, but you are writing music and thats the main thing, people have different ideas of what good music is, so generally people will diss' you and your music. but i can recognise you are writing music and enjoying it.

also, no one was ragging on you to begin with so dont worry about it.

voodoo is right, orange mixer sucks wang.

thats all the argument is.

tom, ed, provide us with something a little more exciting?
