Wow, you mean he sampled this one? Would be a bummer if it was so.

Yeah, found this out too. After all, it doesn't bother me that much as I initially thought while listening to that sample. A good sound is a good sound. However, I've got to admit that sometimes it can be a bit disillusioning to find out how little of certain sounds originate from the artists themselves and were just recycled or sampled. But then again you need to have keen ears and good taste to find and select great sounds too. And it's also not been used 1:1, so yeah. it's not that big of a deal.
Shame, though, the demo is limited to just 128 presets so I can't play that particular one by myself :).

We both know which is the better attempt at using this preset, aren't we :D

Oh snap, two to three years old :) ... Liam will surely receive some harsh criticism for this among the purists, but oh well.

Well I knew a Wall of Death was this:

but I didn't know that a Wall of Death is also a rock/metal thing where the crowd divides itself and then the two sides run at each other. Might be worth remembering if anyone around here decides to catch Prodigy live. If you see a big space open up....watch out!

Difficult to argue with that really. Good spot Explud.
Louder Than War's review of the album seems to have been taken down, but the NME have done one Here.
I suspect you may not all agree with it...

Yeah the "wall of death" is something they brought over with their whole "we're like a rock band" schtick. There's actually a thread on the Prodigy fan site about the practice from three years ago:
http://fans.theprodi...=176&view=topic
They're such a dedicated bunch over there, I feel so bad for them. They deserve better than this after six years.

Sorry, WhieNoise, I didn't get a thing you were saying. Could you please rephrase?

Oh I'm just being all cynical and sarcastic and making fun of it. The song is just absolutely dripping with the old teenage emo angsty punk thing, so much so that it's just silly and cheesy. It's so 'edgy' I'm cutting myself on it. I just can't take it seriously, I don't even think I could even get stupid enough to like it! It's stereotypical, cookie cutter 'prodigy' techno punk. It's a deep cliche.

And the title "Wall of Death" is so dorky and melodramatic it sounds like a horror b-movie you'd see on Mystery Science Theater 3000. Cool to see it's a ridiculous punk rock crowd movement but that just makes this song worse, like tactless appropriation, a desperate struggle to seem relevant.

Well they do actually have stuff like this happen at their shows... whether that's a good idea or not... it seems like it's designed as a prompt for their shows (though in that case I couldn't tell you why they decided to close the album with it).

And also I guess it's pleasing the forum people, if nothing else. They really will follow this band to the ends of the earth.

Ah, got it. I felt it was sarcastic but had a hard time deciphering it :D
Yeah, it is indeed quite cliché and the "rebel territory" was definately the cherry on top. It's like I tried to state above, Prodigy, or Liam for that matter, oftentimes feels kind of obsessive with his attitude of being really really nasty and rebellious and anarchic and what not that it's become fairly worn off over the decades.

Except for the profoundly stupid lyrics it quite OK. practically it is a IMD all over again + some elements of trap/dubstep.

Not their finest album... Waaaay too much recycling. It feels like he used beats and sounds from IMD whenever he was out of idea. And overall, it sounds like bad leftovers from IMD, with awful lyrics and vocal loops.

I still like a few tracks though : The Day Is My Enemy, Rebel Radio, Destroy, Rok-Weiler, and I would like Get Your Fight On IF IT DIDN'T STRAIGHT RECYCLE THE BEAT FROM TAKE ME TO THE HOSPITAL ! Gosh Liam... Couldn't you come up with new stuff ?

Don't think so. Click the word 'itunes' in the last sentence of this Mixmag thing and it should take you there. Mixmag

Hmm. Maybe it's a regional thing. Works fine for me in London. Perhaps it's different for you foreign people!
Maybe some other nationalities here could advise Pumisher if they can get on it?

I listened to the entire album twice, in my car on the way to work and on my daily run after work at a local trail here in Dallas, and it continues to grow on me.

I think this is one of these albums that is best heard in a live setting though. This is similar to Daft Punk's Human After All where it was critically panned until the infamous ALIVE show at Coachella in 2006 did the album justice (no pun intended).
