I hate to say it, but the tracks sounds alot like a Justin Timberlake song.

So top-notch production, infectious vocals, and ready to corrupt a new generation? Yeah, I'd agree with that. These days, comparing anything to a JT track is generally a compliment.

Compliment from the mainstream. I hope that the track has lasting appeal beyond the time the mainstream finds a new trend.

Mainstream pop right now is very subversive and is taking values from the underground. There's still a ton of crap, but there's also a lot of really good stuff out there.

Who better than Tom & Ed to bridge the gap? Personally, I'd much rather get looks of astonishment and envy when I tell people I've seen the Chems twice and met Ed than looks of bafflement and ignorance like is sometimes the case.

chuff the flame wars - someone send me the ftp password. or the tune - navneet.anand@gmail.com - my rip's got the buy this poo poo all over and i cant go thru tomorrow all day at work without hearing this.

i've been hearing it on repeat and i want the full rip! damn - it IS a grower! i agree it doesn't have the personality of a regular chems single, or the impact, but i am falling in love with the tune. it's very booty shaking. now that description makes sense - sorta -

Damn it with the chems you really dont know what to expect, I was totally not expecting this. LOL

True enough! haha. It's good that the tune has sparked debate rather than just fanboy and fangirl adulation. I really do think it will grow on the majority of people who weren't that impressed at first, but it's good to have some open discussion.

Plenty of artists have failed to clear samples in the past. I'm going to stop listening to The KLF now....

I desperately hope that this catches on here and I can get my dance on with the ladies at the Yacht Club in the near future. I'll definetly be trying to push it on the DJs there. It's sexy.

I think it's cool if they are successful with this track but name-awereness is so secondary to the music that my hope is that when I play WATN 5 years from now the track is still able to convey something to me. I'm not saying this will not happen.

I agree with you that the music is first and foremost. But the entire idea of a single to promote your music to the mainstream and get attention for yourself and your tunes. I think it's very safe to say that WATN will have a lot of great tunes, and that "Do It Again" is a dancefloor banger with a lot of appeal to a wide demographic.

I think in the context of the dancefloor (and, hopefully, in the context of the album), Do It Again works terrifically.

The difference between say failing to clear a sample from the beatles is a bit different from this case because here we have an unsyndicated artist whose brilliant hooks were ripped and used (in an integral way) to make tracks that sell for millions. Without any consolation.

Well, it's also a case of having something like this happening to a "local" guy by a "multinational tyrant" or something like that so it's understandable that people will not care much about it if the loser is someone they have no connection to.

Does MTV play any music anymore? Why can't the new season of Laguna Beach start, damnit?!

Soundertow: I agree it's a shame when small artists don't get the credit or attention when they get something great taken from them. That being said, Timbaland is still a fantastic producer. I hope the artist in question receives some sort of compensation, or at least is able to spin some of the publicity off into development of his career.
