Dude, I know we have a movie thread, but this one deserves it's own... holy fuck, what an amazing fucking piece of cinema. Blade Runner, Schindlers List and Black Hawk Down rolled into one. I watch a lot of movies, a whole lot, but this thing had me shaking, crying and holding my breath by the end.
go forth and see it, by any means necessary!

I like the director (or rather I like a couple of his films -- most notably a little princess (is that the name? I think it is)) but the movie seemed pretty ridiculous in trailers.
thanks for the recommendation, I think I'll see it now.

He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

I kept hearing reviewers say 'The New "Blade Runner"' and I was like, no way, nuh uh, but it's seriously fucking amazing. He sells the future, makes it look more real than live CNN footage.

stash is right, Children of Men was absolutely incredible. I went into it knowing we'd be watching a quality flick because I've heard good things about it (I've never seen a trailer for this) and I wasn't expecting to be totally affected by it. But I was The depicted future is grim, gritty, hopeless, a power struggle between a police state and the resistance where the lines between the 2 are blurred. There is a style to the way it was filmed, there's some long continuous shots that are masterfully pulled off yet very raw and powerful. You realize once a scene is cut that you've been watching one solid sequence for an extended period of time - and the cinematic tension this technique builds is fantastic. It takes a lot to make me cry when I watch a film, but this one managed. Honestly - best movie I have seen in a long long time. I haven't been able to stop thinking about it all day.

Im not trying to be a cunt, but was this not out ages ago? Apart from that, Yeah I thought it was a pretty moving film.
I think the way they precieved the future was pretty cool, it seems logical to assume the stuff that you see there, we probably will see, which made the film seem more realistic for me.

Hey Foxy, you're not being a cunt! X-D I can see why you brought it up - the movie has been out where you are since September (I think).
Children of Men came out here in the States in limited release on Christmas, and goes into wider release tomorrow.

the 15 minute long, one shot gun battle scene is incredible...and it is just one shot!

also a really good film to track down as it will never get a release in the u.s is "the wind that shakes the barley" its an irish made film, with all irish cast including cillian murphy from 28 days later, its about the latter years of the english occupation of ireland set around the very south of the country, amazing script, great acting, and very very historically acurate. its a great watch.
as is rocky 7....or whatever fuckin number it is now....its only good cause its funny!

it reminds me of that film where the family of an ex boxer run a resteraunt and they have him entertaining the guests....i cant fuckin remember the name of it! but he's a total retard, due to the anount of head injuries and he just runs around being stupid.....but basically thats what rocky is doing! slurring anecdotes to diners at his resteraunt.....until his comeback....where he wins ofcourse....oh and to ruin another movie for you....darth vader is actually lukes father!..... 8O

No he doesnt win, the other guy does by a point. Rocky just wins the love of the crowd cause he roughed up Dixon pretty bad and even though the other guy won.. everyone just loves rocky instead then they live happily ever after and Adrian comes back from the dead and makes rocky 20 again and he goes and fights the other guy and kicks his brains in..........
