I still don't like being accused of "indirectly, discrediting the power of DYOH." Because I'm not - never have, and I can bet you dollars to donuts I've been suggesting Dig Your Own Hole for a lot longer than you have, despite me being old. :P I might as well come back and say you are discrediting the most impressive piece of music ever written because you personally favor Star Guitar over The Private Psychadelic Reel. Or when you say Where Do I Begin doesn't belong on Dig Your Own Hole. Who was it that said that once upon a time?
Anyway, we could argue this til the cows come home. I need coffee.
Peace out Bosco - it's been a somewhat heated yet enjoyable and lively debate! :)

As for Star Guitar being better then the Reel, and Where Do I Begin? Not deserving to be on DYOH, I?m ready to discus my 2 cents on the matter. However, I?ll wait for another time, as I don?t wanna keep on getting on peoples nerves.
By the way, you really do keep tabs on everyone don?t you?.....How do you even remember that ?where do I begin?? thing? 8O
And also, sorry for accusing you of indirectly discrediting DYOH, I?m just trying to make a point. (!) Peace (!) to both Foxy and Whirly.
(OK Slipvin, I?ve done my job of keeping the spirit of DYOH alive, now its your turn!!!)

i wish people would stop banging on about this 'big beat' malarky though - big beat was a flash in the pan genre invented by lazy journalist and was a good excuse for a load of average producers to rip off a template and make some terrible music from it.
yes - BRB was kind of a forumla for it - heavy breakbeat, funky bassline, hip hop vox sample - but 99.9% of big beat records never came anywhere near the standard the chems set.
i prefer to see the chems DYOH as the revival of an eclectic spirit of acid house, rather than them inspiring a load of shite ie bentley rhtyhm ace and the propellerheads.
that is all.

So long as peeps enjoy da Chems, it matters not to me. I just want more b-sides.

And how I remember that old chit chat from way back - believe it or not I do have a fairly keen memory ;) and things just pop into my head when conversations are going...
Just ask toomuch'stash about this, it's one of my most annoying traits!

1) Surrender
This album is stone cold classic. While perhaps not as innovative and ground-breaking as Exit Planet Dust or Dig Your Own Hole, Surrender is the sound of a group at the top of their game, with the world at their feet.
The opening volley of Music:Response, Under the Influence, and Out of Control is colossal and undeniable. The epic Sunshine Underground, chart-topping Hey Boy Hey Girl, and the funky Got Glint? are other highlights, though there is truly not a weak track on this album.
Wow, I couldn't think of how to describe this album but this sums it up perfectly for me. Thanks!

ok you didn?t directly discredit Dig your Own Hole, however, when 3 of you said you would recommend surrender to introduce someone to the chemical brothers, technically you are indirectly, discrediting the power of DYOH. Dig Your Own Hole is more then just a record, its ground breaking, and created a new genre which defines who the chemical brothers really are.
dude, weren't you like, oh, 8 when DYOH came out?
We were there man, we know how good it was, at the time.
