Are there any acts that have collaborated with the chems that:

a) you got other stuff they had done and really liked ir , OR

b) you got other stuff they had done and were really disappointed.

Me - a) Beth Orton

-I liked bloc party before "beleive", my friend is best friends with the drummer *can't think of his name!*

-I also like the Dust Brothers stuff (i.e. Beck, beastie boys, primus)

-Noel (Oasis) is also great.

.

Finally, i haven't bought any bad cds ever, I download it first to see if i like it then buy the album.

"believe" is a grower track.it took a while to like it as when i first heard push the button i was dissapointed as there didnt seem to be any real strong catchy songs apart from galvanize.but after recently playing it again after a long lay off i found i liked it a lot more than i did.other songs that stand out for me are the big jump and surface to air which i think is blinding!

excellent thread. i tried the klaxons a few months back when I heard the chems were collaborating with them. utter rubbish album except for one GOOD song.

i loved some of new order's stuff, but then i liked bernard parallely before he did out of control and he is just ace.

i'd like to check out justin warfield's own stuff. any reccos? i like the remix too.

i personally think everyone who they've collaborated with, has had a fair chance to do the best track of his or her music life.

I discovered Beth Orton's music through the Chemical Brothers back in the mid-nineties. I really like her work.

I kept hearing about Bloc Party right around the time that Kele Okereke was contributing to Believe on Push The Button. I decided to have a listen to Bloc Party's other work, but didn't really care for them too much.

All Rights Reversed has sparked my interest in the Klaxons, so I'll be checking them out soon as well.

The Salmon Dance

Dislike :

The Boxer

The Test

Close your eyes

Believe (cheesy voice, the rest of the track is awesome)

Do it Again (same as Believe)

The Golden Path

The Pharcyde are absolutely sick. utterly sick. As are A Tribe Called Quest. Essential hip-hop.

I love The Charlatans and New Order.

I hate Klaxons and Oasis. Bloc Party's new stuff is rubbish.

But thankfully, Tom and Ed have never done a bad collaboration!

I like New Order and Primal Scream.

The only song of Bloc Party I love is Banquet, I don't like the other songs.

Richard Ashcroft is okay for me.

I love Beth Orton's voice, but I have never heard one of her albums.

And sorry guys, but Oasis is my favourite band, Ed and Tom being second.

I love New Order, but was listening to them a good 15 years before Bernard Sumner's Chemical collaboration.

Damn, I'm old.

Do It Again is definitely my least favorite collaboration so far. I love the beats, but the vocals really kill the track for me. I might have to hunt down that promo single with the instrumental version.

I forgot I had started this thread.

@ Prochem - dont you ever go into record store and just take a hunch on something. Its a good feeling when you discover its a great album.

@Jacks Revenge - Get your hands on "Field Trip to Planet 9" by Justin Warfield - its his first album, didnt really like the second album - not my thing. The best track on the first album is fishermans grotto

I thought the klaxons album was ok

And Oasis are tip top

I like just about all the collaborations the Chemical Brothers have done, though my least favorite would probably have to be The Boxer. But I love the Charlatans, I just wasn't a big fan of Burgess' flasetto on the song (which he sort of adopted for the Charlatans album Wonderland and used on The Chems' Boxer).

I liked Noel Gallagher's work with the Chems, but I never got into Oasis. It's not that I don't like them, I do - just never dove head first.

I was a fan of The Verve (as in, they were one of my favorite bands when they were together) so I about had heart failure when I found out the mighty Richard Ashcroft was going to be working with the Chems. The Test is one of my favorite collaborations.

Beth Orton can do no wrong, really. Honorary Chemical Sister. I never got into her solo stuff, but everything she's done with the Chems have been excellent.

Trespassers William - I should really give them more than a listen here or there. I really liked what I've heard of them so far, they remind me of The Cowboy Junkies in a way. Hold Tight London still gives me goosebumps when I hear it and I think Anna Lynne's voice is gorgeous.

New Order - I'm pretty much where satur8 is on this one. Welcome to the old!! haha. Same with Primal Scream...

I have plans on checking out Willie Mason and giving a serious ear to his music. What I've heard from him so far has been really really good.

There's more, but I haven't moved through all the threads and posts that popped up over the weekend so I'll wrap it up...

I don't like Anwar and Noel (Let Forever Be), all the other collabs are excellent.

It isn't that hard to understand people.

I checked out the Magic Numbers album: wasn't impressed. And I hate fat gits.

Bloc Party is okay, but they also didn't blow me away.

Primal Scream on the other hand kicks ass. And Beth Orton too. Q-Tip did some great stuff, but he kinda lost his touch now. I love what Noel Gallagher did on Setting Sun, but I don't like Oasis much. Bunch of wankers.

The second album from TMN is much better.

Yep, Oasis are a bunch of wankers, couldn't agree more. But still, Let Forever Be and Setting Sun are awesome tunes.

I hope you like the Charlatans, prochem. They are one of the top movers and shakers of the whole Manchester scene (back when there was a bustling scene). You might also want to check out Melting Pot which is a sort of best-of compilation of singles. It's a good way to get your feet wet - good stuff.
