It's been 6 years exactly today that DAFT PUNK recorded ALIVE 1997 in Birmingham. I just found that out.

It's a fucking great album.

Full of Fucked up beats and Cut-off bending.

ALIVE 1997 and Homework are so much better then Discovery.

i bought 'homework' the week it came out in jan 1997. it was a totally revolutionary album to me, i was going through my indie kid to dance head transformation. 'homework' just broke down so many barriers for me, it really opened my mind to house. this has to be in my top 10 list of classic albums.

'discovery' on the other hand was a complete disapointment. at first i was wow i have heard the future! but that feeling did not last long. in places its over ambitious and in other areas its just weak. 'one more time' i find unbearable. the only song thats stands out is 'digital love', and a couple of others are okay. its a shame cos the punk are talented. some of thomas bangalters other projects/collaborations are amazing he is and superb producer. he has produced 2 of ibiza's classics, 'stardust - music sounds better with you' and his own 'music sounds better with you'. those tunes have given me warm memories of some great nights out. the king of monotony, dragging 10 minute tunes out that sound the same from start to finish with subtle variation, but work so well. a true genious. at the end of the day i just felt cheated with 'discovery' i know they can do so much better

i thought the live show were very rough round the edges when i saw them at V97. no were near as polished as the chems live show, but full of raw energy.

i doubt daft punk will be making any more albums, there a far too many good producers for bangalter to collaborate with in france, i'd love to hear him work with laurent wolf, antoine clamaran or dj gregory. viva la france!!
I'm a fuckin doughnut

Discovery is far more Interesting than Homework...Homework is more funk and Discovery is more electro,chill-out kindda album (imo) . Though i haven't seen them live. I have heard their dj sets. AMAZING!!!

Homework's a great record. Rollin and Scratchin is my fave song of theirs, they really put French house on the map. Discovery didn't sit too well with me... I'm pretty much in the sneakerbeater boat on this one, opinions wise. I think Daft are very talented and have a lot to offer the world of electronic music - they are still young and have made a strong name for themselves plus they do know what they are doing, they are in good with influential people in the industry and that could well carry them work with some great producers like sneaker pointed out. I eagerly await the next effort!

Discovery....fucking rocks....
He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

I agree with sneakerbeater completly.

Homework was groundbreaking when it was released.

Discovery is downtempo and not very boundaries bending.

But ok discovery was great album only when compared with homework I found it a disappointment.

You don't have to agree with me everyone has their one opinion.

I'm just angry with http://www.daftpunk.com/

What the hell's going on there?

Need some more tunes! I don't want their new album with the remixes because I already got them using my daft card.

Those robots serve no purpose. It is purpose that created us, purpose that connects us, purpose that pulls us, that guides us, that drives us.

I need to access a website that contains information for its fans. It is to much to ask?

Lucky they have a website? I don't think so young man. They might as well have not bothered, it's useless.

That's the point. When their new album comes out nobody will know what hit them.

What about that new album???

Yesterday in my local record store, I found out that it's some sort of a remix album.

Does anybody know something more?

Tracklisting?

Yes, didn't I say in my previous post in this thread?

If you had 'Discovery' it came with a daftcard which allowed you to download free remixes and bonus songs as well as a live set from them.

For the people who didn't have access to that, they are putting them onto cd, but I already have them on cd.

The live set is amazing!
