Intro is top notch. The rest is... well, I'm undecided whether I like it or not so much... Needs to grow on me.

What a banger - completely in love! :)
p.s. is it just me or this song shouts "EAT THIS KRAFTWERK!" ?
<ducks, hope Ed's not reading this>

::laughs:: Ed reads everything. He's a lurker, like the creepy-yet-absolutely-loving uncle who watches you from the closet as you sleep.

I really like the track ! There's an obvious homage to Kraftwerk and I like it, it sounds like Kraftwerk, without ripping them off or sounding cheap, and it still sounds like the Chems.
I feel that the track illustrates cycling pretty good, with that looping apreggio

I Like it , was out last night so just got it on iplayer thing.

I like it because it takes in all the influences, kraftwerk, the cycling, the grandness of the olympics. Its definitely them but it sounds different, like they have made an effort not to just produce a chemical brothers track. Its Class but what i heard is too short. Mixes please.

My first impression was a nod of appreciation to Kraftwerk, for sure. I played it for my husband last night and he said it reminded him of some of the more old skool industrial stuff he used to listen to frequently way back when. And I have to agree there. To me there's always been something about their tunes sounding so familiar in some ways, but Tom and Ed always retaining their unique imprint on everything they do that sounds unmistakably Chemical.

Totally agree.

Also hoping the version we heard is the abridged version and a longer mix is in our future!

I did not mean in anyway it's a Kraftwerk ripoff. It's tough to put it in words. But to me (IMHO) - it sounds like a big nod to Kraftwerk - the man machine (not literally the KW song) vocal, the vibe, but it (again IMHO) kicks Kraftwerk's ass. Yeah I'm weird.
I love this song. I'm so weirded my two top favourite bands have done the two official anthems (fallen in love with the Muse song now - grown grown grown on me) - and my favourite director from back in the day is directing the soundtrack! Full circle!
Proud of Tom n Ed! Really proud!

Hm. At the moment the intro overshadows the rest of the track for me. I don't mean it's a bad song at all. But it starts off dramatically and lush and gets a tad "flat" after it.
I really do appreciate the reminiscence of Kraftwerk with the breathing and the vocoder sample. And I do like the effects and segues throughout the track.
I was expecting something eaqually dramatic throughout the rest of the song as promised by its intro. Maybe that's my problem: my expectations  . Let's see whether the bros have a longer mix in store on July 30th.

I guess it's needless to say that I'm very happy they were hired to do a theme for the Olympic games!

Btw, can anyone of you native speakers tell me why Zane was laughing at that "theme" thing? I didn't get that.

He tends to get carried away when the big boy heroes come in. Anytime i heard him speak to the beastie boys he lost it completely. total bollocks all the way.
I think he just thought it was cool the chems had been hired and its nice to have a theme from the olympics by one of his favourite bands

& beats remind me Derrezed from "Punx".

Zane is one lucky guy. Over the last 4 weeks, he's had the privilege of putting out the new Bloc Party, the new Muse, the new Killers, and now the new Chems!

I sense the bros will do more movie soundtracks in the future. It's got some nice movie-esque sequences.

I love this track. Totally ramped up arpeggy feel. The snare is interesting though.

Oh and hi all! Been a long time, yeah?

How about the Tom/Klaxons comment, is there anymore info on this?

I'm finding it hard to deal with as I'm not a fan of Klaxons at all, although ARR
is the best thing they've done and the re-edit sounds amazing in a club.

Good to see 'round! Hope you're all good.
Yup, that snare sounded like one of my cheap compressed ones.

Interesting sound, especially the 'orchestral' intro! I think there's definitely a Kraftwerk reference there but I also hear a bit of Orbital (I can't think which song). I'm not so sure about the "Vel-O-drome" voice at the minute but maybe it will grow on me.

The Chemical Brothers - Theme From Velodrome

oooooooołłłłł yyyyyyeeeee
Tom Rowlands said : "The most important feature of the album is that it connects with us emotionally in some way. We hope for finding a new way to make you feel. We dream of new sounds and different frames. We have worked with some guest singers but mostly the album is pure Chemical Brothers."
