The upcoming album is legitimate, I'm pretty sure, there's been a lot of different reports from people saying that they're making one.

The tour stuff is probably a maybe.

All this info came through the intensive research of The Daft Club, so you can be sure that anything that reaches your eyes has passed through the filter of a fandom used to being disappointed by hype ("Renoma Street", anyone?). This is easily the most plausible rumor yet. The photographer who let the news slip made every effort to ensure we took his news with a grain of salt (because it's still possible that they could suddenly cancel their plans), so he's probably not some kind of troll trying to rile up the Daft Punk fandom. It's more a question of whether the tour actually pans out than if he's telling the truth about it.
As for the album, we've known they were working on something since Panda Bear mentioned that Thomas and Guy had him shortlisted for collaboration back in 2011. By now it's just a matter of when the damn thing is going to come out.

Rumours are what they are, but when it comes to Daft Punk, you just can't trust anything until it actually comes out.

Although I enjoyed their live 2007 album and stage set up very much, I'm not too keen on another studio album, though. My problem with daft punk is they're mostly repetitve and loopy, lacking inspiration and versatility. They sure have good ideas but often don't walk the whole way and stop right in the middle instead.
But let's see what they'll bring to the table.

So, the bad news is that Nile Rogers has been battling cancer for the last two years. :-(

But what is amazing is that he has said "f*ck that shit--I'm going to make an album with Daft Punk."

I'm actually relieved they're not touring this year. I don't think I'll be free to travel for concerts during the summer. Plus I can focus on scratching out the artists left on my EDM list. Among others.

Having listened to massive amoounts of Daft Punk (bumping Homework right now) I can safely say there is no way that's Daft Punk. If I were to venture a guess I'd say that it's a new Avicii video or something to do with this EDM DJ show.
