ok this was a long while ago...like, just before IBIA was released as a single...i downloaded the first sets of mp3's released, and i ended deleting it later on after buying Come With Us. But that first version was different than any of the other versions. It had this voice in the beginning "something something...active radio" and then later in the song during a build up/break out: "action" or something like that, i cant remember its all fuzzy

but any you guys know what im talking about? and know hte name of that mix/version?

I think I downloaded that track a while back aswell. Does it contain a sample of some guy breathing heavily? 'Cause the track sucks and hope the chems have nothing to do with it.

Mikey, I think I know which version you're talking about - I have an old mp3 (lying around somewhere after all this time) of It Began In Afrika that also has a voice talking over it near the beginning. It was from Pete Tong's radio 1 show I believe.

That version is the single release. It has a longer intro and imo sounds more rounded out than the shortened version that appeared on Come With Us.

There is yet another version of It Began In Afrika that never got released and it was discussed here once upon a time by a few people who distinctlyreemember hearing Tom and Ed spin it at Glint and Turnmills and such. It was one of those very early pressings and I don't think there's any floating around.

I know which track you're talking about, and I have the mp3 of it. I was playing last night as a matter of fact.

Hi Whirly,

from where did you get that version (which is lying somewhere at your home X-D) ?

That old mp3 was a captured stream from Pete Tong's radio show, which was broadcast live from one of his gigs. I got it from a friend who found it online before the release of the IBIA single - it's the exact same song as the single version, so you probably already have it. The only difference is it has a radio announcer voice talking over it near the beginning.

The bad thing is that when I dled it I thought it was THE real version. That was a couple years ago. I think I threw out the cd I put it on aswell.

Can I get the "Black Out" version from someone? I can send the Heavy Breathing version of IBIA in exchange.
