Ok I gotta a problem - can someone help? Or guide me to an online resource, I've had no luck so far.

My turntable wont work anymore so I borrowed a friend's very old Sony PS 515 (Direct Drive Full automatic) - think it's more than 20 yrs old - works perfectly fine at his place with his sony amp, but when I plug the stereo output into my 2001 model Sony MHC - Z100's MD inputs the signal is too weak - I can hear the songs at very very very very low volume, even with the amp at full volume which is 4000(Peak)W.

My friend's old amp has a phono input while mine has only options for MD and Video inputs (L n R). The turntable works perfectly fine with his old amp.

Does anyone know what could be the problem, or do I have to buy a pre-amp now with a phono input?

Heard the new ebw last night at almost zero volume. :(

Also borrowed the Come With Us and EBW 7 vinyls from him!! Can't figure out this problem before tonight's party!

yeh u need a phono pre-amp mate, thats why its so quiet, the amp inputs youve got havent got enough beans to boost the signal.

Don't get fucked over when you get one. There alot of "audiophile" ones out there for $200+ that you really don't need unless you've got a stunning audio system. Behringer do a cheap one IIRC...
