I couldn't agree more. I spend all of time time making and listening to music and the chems are my favourite artists of all time. However in some people's eyes I am less of a fan than they are because they have the orignal song to the siren 12" and I don't. I am starting to collect chems rarities but it takes time. I dont think we should judge other fans on their ability to buy rare promo copies of tracks that they already own! X-D

I agree with you all. I simply don't have the money to invest in collecting although it is a fun thing to do and I admire the persistance of collectors who are devoted to taking time to invest in their favorite artists. Nothing wrong with that, long before I discovered the Chemical Brothers when I had money to blow, I was a rabid U2 fan and my collection is ridiculously expansive with some rare old items that are worth a crapload of money - consequently my husband has tried to get me to pawn off some of my collection but I said no way. It took me years to collect, and my best girlfriend was my cohort in our collecting enterprises.
I think the attraction of collecting, as it was for me, is that it does indeed become a large chunk of your life and people not understanding of what it is to be a collector pass you off as being obsessive. Whereas hearing music is one thing, collecting items by those musicians tends to personify the music, give it some tangible body - in a way it can bring you closer to the music you enjoy. Most of all at least for me, there are memories that become attached to what you collect.

be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

I always have the It Began In Afrika EP right next to my computer monitor.
He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.
