Well, now that we've heard excerpts from the whole album, I think it's time we did a recap of the songs that made it and the ones that didn't. I'm also contemplating whether or not I should do a graduation-style look back for all the tracks that made it with the grainy YouTube footage put over
this song.
THE LUCKY ONES:
"Last Track"/"Watch The Skies":
I'm sure all of you knew this already, but it's called
Escape Velocity and it's the second track on the album.
"Remember To Fall In Love":
Swoo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oooon!
"Warm Vibe":
Contrary to my expectations it wasn't "Wonders Of The Deep". It is, however, "Another World" and track number three.
and the last one is...
*drumroll*
"Live Intro Track":
I was surprised as anyone. My harmless speculation proved to be true! How 'bout that? Albeit not as "Snow", the album-opener. It's "Wonders of the Deep", the album-closer. Still works just great either way.
Now for, sadly...
THE NOT-SO-LUCKY ONES:
"After Sunglasses":
Well, they didn't do it the ultimate injustice of not releasing it at all. They at least afforded the dignity of being the bonus track "Don't Think". But don't download it expecting a cavalcade of ravey goodness like "After Sunglasses"! Oh, no. Some of you may remember that when "After Sunglasses" was first made available on the Coachella bootleg I joked that it would end up as a "dub reggae track" because the Chems always do the unexpected. A few of you laughed. But things are grim, my friends! There is no joy here! For the almighty "After Sunglasses" has been reduced to... a dub reggae track. OK, not quite. But it's so slow that it might as well be. What could have possibly led them to do something like this?
EDIT: In retrospect I might have been overly critical of the song. It's still a cavalcade of ravey goodness. Also, if you listen to the Coachella recording you can hear them drop the title in the "Q-Tip" spoken-word segment. "Don't think; this night is through..."
"After After Sunglasses":
Unless it's appended to the end of "Don't Think", this electro banger may never see the light of day.
"Crazy Cowbell Track":
After all that fanfare they leave this fun little song off the album! Come on, brothers! Couldn't you have at least used it as an interlude?
"Animal Track"/"Problem-Question":
Well, yes. It's always a disappointment when this isn't on their next album. But I wasn't getting my hopes up for it anyway. Sorry for those of you that did.
But don't despair just yet! The fact that Popof is remixing a Further song means that there'll be at least one proper EP. EPs mean B-sides. B-sides, as anybody who's heard "No Need" will know, means a second chance for some of these poor songs! For just seventeen dollars a month you could give this song-
*holds up a sad-eyed "Crazy Cowbell Track"*
-a nice, warm home on the "Horsepower" single! That's less than a dollar a day! Call now and you'll get a photo of your song with its monthly progress and excerpts from Tom & Ed debates about what to do with it. Now if you'll excuse me...
*logs on to the forum, looks at first post of this thread*
I thought "After Sunglasses" raved mercilessly? Weird...
