... i was just wondering when the last full-fledged tour was kicked in the americas to promote themselves. PTB had what 4 shows as well right or was it 2 plus coachella. i went to ultra fest and then in 2002 i went to hammerstien. now i will double my chem experience in just a little over a month.

Hmmm. That's a good question. Surrender, maybe? I am pretty sure they did more gigs that time around than for Come With Us. I know the tour for Dig Your Own Hole had a good number of US dates too.
I think the planet-dust.net site may have a list of cities for each tour to give an idea - but it's been a while since I've visited that site.
Either way, now's a good time to double your Chemical pleasure takesumtime!!

Glad middle america is getting some love... But I have to day *damn,* looking back at the tour dates from '99 and '97, I have to say I'm more than a little nostalgic. I remember being aware of that tour, but aside from the Red Rocks gig - which I had my sights set upon - I didn't remember the rest of the dates at all. The '99 tour was friggin' massive. Kansas City? The Chems played *Kansas City?* And the Chems were in San Jose? Why the hell didn't I go to that? That seems like a utopia in retrospect...
And while I understand that now electronic dance music has subversively worked its way into many aspects of our popular culture - we have TV theme songs and Justin Timberlake doing house tracks - I really hate that we no longer have artists like the Chems launching massive tours here. Yeah, I understand that it's expensive, and why try with the US when you can fill soccer stadiums in Latin American and Eastern Europe, and be adored like gods while doing so, but I feel like someone has to put some work into cultivating a relationship between the US and electronic dance music - someone has to give the US a chance. Maybe DJ tours (*much cheaper*) are the answer? But then with DJ tours being so damned cheap, you have folks like Richie Hawtin spending all their time jumping between disparate places such as Ibiza and Tokyo and London, not plotting a course across America to conquer it.

"I'm planning on buying tickets to Arcade Fire + LCD Soundsystem in Minneapolis-St. Paul in the next few days"
ooohhhhh nice! I'm hoping they extend that tour out to Chicago. I missed Arcade Fire at Coachella for Busy P and DJ Mehdi, which still turned out to be awesome.
As for Chems in Chicago, we need you there bud! Same goes for Prochem!

I also was looking back at that Planet-Dust link Whirly posted. And, I just noticed that back in 97 they played my favorite venue in Chicago (The Riviera Theatre). Dig Your Own Hole era + my favorite venue = MEGA orgasim.
It's amazing how well they got around in the earlier years. Im kinda assuming it was less of a set up live, then it is now (someone correct me if im wrong). Not to mention more affordable too.
My guess for the soon to be announced Chicago date will probably be the same place they played for their Come With Us tour, Allstate Arena. Which is too bad because its not exactly the best place for a show, but I'll take what I can get.
