At first the idea of Coachella cruise sounded like a bad idea, but I've come round to finding it intriguing. Unfortunately, I'm fairly sure I will not have the funds to try something like this in time, but I hope that this goes over well so I might have a chance at it in the future.
I do kinda find it cheap that they throw the Coachella name on there, but I understand Goldenvoice is cashing in on their success of the Coachella brand, and if I were in their position I would be doing that too.

Saw a blurb on facecrack and read this article. http://www.mtv.com/n...la-cruise.jhtml
No. Not interested. Perhaps in my twilight years being crammed onto a cboat and risking a ship-wide norovirus outbreak might seem like a good idea. But now. Not so much.
Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Coachella and some of the best times of my life were had there. But first they did away with single day passes, then they turned it into a 3-day festival. OK fine, I can live with that. But then they had to expand the festival across 2 weekends and people bought into it. Now this cruise. It just seems gimmicky to me.
I wouldn't turn my nose up at going to Coachella again. But this cruise gets a thumbs down from me. Not my scene at all.

Cruise-concerts are the hot thing in dance music right now, you can't really blame them for wanting to get in on it. The lineup decent considering they had to convince all the artists to spend 8 days at sea, but I think it pales a bit in comparison to similar events (Holy Ship had A-Trak giving onboard DJ lessons!).

I think this is a fun idea, but this idea and what I know Coachella to be are two very, very different things. I agree with Whirls in that this seems very gimmicky--I'm not quite sure that I love the idea of having a "Coachella brand."
I love Simian Mobile Disco, though. If I had an extra few hundred dollars I'd go and have a great time, I'm sure. But I would also need a group of people to go with, and then extra money to spend on top of that, so on and so forth...

Its an interesting concept, near where I live there is a boat party every bank holiday called High Tide, the likes of Carl Cox, Josh Wink, Paul Woolford & James Zabiela have all played to under 300 people. I like the idea of a festival on a boat, but it need to bé a filthy cargo ship, not a cruiseliner
