get a big tune
stick generic nu skool beat over the top
make the b-line farty
job done
THAT said......the house scene is starting to go the same way with the US dj's playing r&b tunes cut up over simple house production.....Igloo etc etc
I guess putting a tune you like/want to play into a context that fits into your style/set/genre makes sense to people......
wanders off moaning about 'the good ol days etc'
seriously....I can see why it happens, it's just not something that pushes a scene forward really. the thing is, I know plenty of people that moan about these bootlegs (like me for instance) but then you're out and on the floor and gosh darn it if they aren't quite effective ......guilty pleasure I guess.
as a dj I do buy the odd one and I do play them but I use gloves and a mask when doing so........I think I should stop now.....

that chemeicla beats one and bille jean one is WANK. complete shite. it's not like the billie jean accapella's even been arranged properely so it fits over the beats. it's just heres an accapella, heres chemical beats, lets run them together and see what happens.
and what happens? SHITE thats what. i know, lets pick two tunes which don't go together and then press them up. fucks sake.
gotta say the hacker one wasn't THAT bad, it just wasnt great - a bit pointless really.
agree with chebbers, it really ian't pushing a scene forward at all, but an effective one can sounds wicked - chris lums booty of missy elliott for example just rocks.

I wouldn't rip into these people making bootlegs that much. Sure, they may suck, but you never know, maybe one of these producers will be the next big thing and they used the Chems to showcase their stuff. Switch remixed GYH and it rocked. I listen to anyone who would remix the Chemicals because they have some real balls. They are just trying to get their mix out their, much more than I can say about mine.
im sorry mate but that is complete bollox.
you could hardly call the chemical beats/billie jean thing a remix could you?
and its COMPLETELY different to Switch, who took the tune and actually remixed it ie cretaed a version that was totally there own - it was NOT juyst an accapella thrown over a tune. and not only that, but 2 tunes which don't go together anyway!!
nah mate, if they had any talent they'd be doing decent re-edits of the tunes at the very least - as it stands there just after a novelty buck.

I had that Billie Jean remix for a while and indeed, it does suck giant balls. I doubt that the person who "mixed" that track even was the one to press it on a bootleg. I'm just saying that these types of remixes deserves at least one listen. I understand your point fully though Mippio.

switch mix is tastey tho'
billie jean/chems mix - well, as duff as it is I think it proves that people will buy anything....

If it's done properly, then great. If it's some tw@ who hasn't a clue what he's doing (as in this case) then they shouldn't bother messing with classic songs and killing them.
So far, I only found two really great breakz bootlegs:
Underworld - Cowgirl
Leftfield - Phat Planet 2003
Leftfield - Song Of Life 2003 is pretty good, but not as far as pumping as Phat Planet (the song that has been bootlegged to death)

Wrong! Where is your sense of humour? And, of course, your taste.
And never believe it when somebody tells you that coolness is conformity. I'm the coolest mother fucker on merit of strangeness alone.
