Aw, Foxboy, what a bummer! :(
I would think the age restrictions would be *at least* partially up to the venue. The liability of having minors in the crowd would be risky, especially at a show where you know there's going to be a lot of dancing. In a controlled environment like that, the venue is liable for everyone who enters. If a minor gets hurt, it could mean big fines and big trouble.
It would be nice, though, if the venue could set up something where minors had to wear wrist bands or something, and they couldn't enter the floor area. Kind of like what Australia did a couple years back when tom_rowlands_chemical_chi saw them in Sydney (I think.) All minors were assigned seats and not allowed on the floor. A bummer for the kids who wanted to be in the thick of the crowd, but at least they got to see the show and enjoy the music.
Is there no other way you can see them? Maybe have your older brother take you to an all ages festival (finances permitting, I know it's expensive to travel)

the point depot is almways over 18's cause it has a bar and a therefore can't have underage people on the premises. as for seing the chems go to a summer festival cause you are allowed in there if you are under 18
oops just read that.
The first time i saw them was in a club in nottingham called the bomb doing a DJ set, i was 15 then, god knows how i got in. I put it down to having a ticket, walked straight to the front and went in piece of cake, it is scary tho!
dont look at the floor, and dont look at the bouncers too muchjust talk to whoever is standing next to you, look relaxed, as if being ID'd isnt part of the equation. U shud be fine.
I think if you have a ticket, they sympathise with you because youve planned already to come and thye will totally ruin your night if they turn you away, meaning they cud be more leanient.MAYBE.
I first went to creamfields in 2003, 16, me and a mate had travelled from leicester to london (got on wrong train!) to leicester and then to liverpool, finally got their the night before, then started contemplating wot we wud do if we got ID'd, after spending 50 on a ticket and 30 on train fare, it would be gutting if we got turned away. WE WERE SHITTING OURSELVES. As it usual is we worried for nothing. the guy collecting our tickets looked younger than us!!!
At homelands last year i saw a ten year old on their parents shoulders!
The music shudnt have an age limit, but its just gutting that sometimes it works out that way.
Hope this helps u mate.
