The first Massive Attack album I bought was Mezzanine and it's my favorite out of all of them. It blew my mind the moment I hit play and held my attention captive for the duration. So I would suggest Mezzanine, although my starting point suggestion is heavily biased.

But Mezzanine is a stellar album from start to finish. You really cannot go wrong.

Ok, I haven't really gotten into Massive Attack yet, but now I'd like to. I'm looking for a place to start - is there any particular album/single/track/whatever that I should check out first?

Mezzanine. No explanation needed.

Alright, Mezzanine it is! I'm going to listen to it on the bus ride to school (an hour of interruptless peace, perfect time for listening to music) and let you guys know what I think of it when I'm done.

Excellent, I'm excited to know what you think!
Mezzanine is my first/favorite album from them. (Does anyone like any of MA's other albums more than Mezzanine?)

Don't get me wrong, Mezzanine isn't a bad listen, but when Tricky quits with MA something important to their music is leaving too - you can totaly hear it, and both (everything from MA after Protection as well as Tricky solo) never sound that good again.

Whoa! Mezzanine was very mind blowing. Really took me on a journey, what a great album! Risingson was a real standout, I love all the psychedelic noises going on in that track, and Inertia Creeps is probably one of the coolest songs and coolest song names that I can think of.

Needless to say, I'm hooked on Massive Attack now. Think I'll absorb Mezzanine a little more, then Protection's next on my list

I really should listen to Protection. I've been turned off from listening to their pre-Mezzanine albums because I wasn't too impressed with the tracks on Collected, which I assumed to be the best tracks from those first few albums... :geek:

Agreed, Tricky leaving MA did something to their sound - it became more... ethereal, let's say, not bad at all, just different.
Just put side by side Karmacoma and, let's say, Risingson, all becomes clear.
Maxinquaye is a definite masterpiece, but from there it only got worse for Tricky. Such a shame...

They have a very nice Singles compilation. I know people are allergic to them, but it is the truth. Plus it features the beatiful Live with Me.

I'm a huge massive attack fan and i love their kinda mistery and magical sound. I totally agree man, they definately have a great singles compilation.
And this Heligoland album is pretty good for me.

Massive Attack have recorded a new song with Hollywood actress Scarlett Johansson.
The dance duo have teamed up with the Lost In Translation star for the track 'Summertime', which features as the main song in Mexican movie Days Of Grace.

I like when girls kiss, but I hate this attention whoring. The latest is Rihanna and Britney Spears at some awards show, and when I saw the photo I just groaned (not in a sexual way).
