warning this thread is not for the weak!!!!!!!
I don?t wanna hear peoples opinions about how they think that all the albums are equally good or its too hard to decide......I would like to hear everyone?s ranking of the albums: Exit Planet Dust, Dig Your Own Hole, Surrender, Come With Us, and Push The Button from 1-5. With 1 being the best and 5 being the worst ( or least appealing, for those who believe the word worst is to harsh.)
The Singles 93-03 album should not be included in this ranking nor should any of the mix albums.
Here is my list with the highlights from each album
1. Come With Us
(Highlighted track(s)on the album)
- Come With Us
- It Began in Afrika
- Star Guitar
- Hoops
- Denmark
- The Test
2. Dig Your Own Hole
(Highlighted track(s)on the album)
-Block Rockin? Beats
-Electrobank
-Setting Sun
-It Doesn?t Matter
-Get Up On It Like This
3. Exit Planet Dust
(Highlighted track(s)on the album)
-In Dust We Trust
-Three Little Birdies Down Beats
-Chemical Beats
-Chico?s Groove
-One Too Many Mornings
4. Push The Button
(Highlighted track(s)on the album)
-The Boxer
-Hold Tight London
-The Big Jump
-Surface to Air
5. Surrender
(Highlighted track(s)on the album)
-Out of Control
-Let Forever Be
-The Sunshine Underground (however, in my opinion I believe this is the worst placed track on the album especially after Let Forever be)
-Hey Boy Hey Girl
-Surrender

I really thought at one stage that Dig your own hole was my favorite album but now I find that I love the rest just as much. Come with us and Exit Planet dust are probably the two I've listened to the most over the past few months...but I guess its just what I'm in the mood for that very moment. Sorry to ruin the point of this thread Bosco..

I can only place (notice I didn't say rate!) the albums as they relate to me personally - Words cannot accurately describe how deeply personal Surrender is and always will be and how it came to me when I needed it most... Dig Your Own Hole as their most groundbreaking solid and experimental - r.e.s.p.e.c.t. for forever changing the way I hear music... how Come With Us taught me to give music and love another chance... how Exit Planet Dust personifies the good times... and how Push The Button was able to create good memories while managing to dust off fond old ones at the same time...

1. Surrender
all awesome but Hey boy hey girl and Sunshine underground.
2. Push the button
---> Same again but probably The big jump
3. Dig your own hole
---> not a clue! :?
4. Exit Planet Dust / = Come with us
EPD - Chemical beats / CWU - Star guitar
Sorry for being a boring bastard but its difficult for me to explain why I rate these albums in that order, I think a lengthy discussion over a pint is required! 8)

but i have balls and i am gonna use em...
1. Come with Us - From the opening track to Hoops this album beats all.Pioneer skies and denmark and some test ofcourse being the down side to the album but individualy these tracks are awesome.
2. Dig Your Own Hole - where do i begin....hmmm....TPPR...dig your own hole into > Elektrobank into> Piku, Lost in k-hole(OMMFG my current fav.)
3. Push the Button - Galvanize, Believe, Surface2air,thebigfuckinjump...i am tired of telling everybody how bloody good this album is.
4. Surrender - the most experimental(in sense exploring different geners) album from the supastar djs
5. Exit Planet dust - yeah life is sweet when you leave home.

1). Surrender (1)
2). Dig Your Own Hole (1)
3). Come With Us (1)
4). Exit Planet Dust (2)
5). Push the Button (2)
Now I'll try to explain... Overall, I really like almost all the songs on Surrender and it's my favorite album art work. Dig Your Own Hole, I like almost all the songs on it, though I'm not much into Don't Stop the Rock and it was also my first Chem album. Come With Us is also very good but there were a few let downs like Pioneer the Skys. Exit Planet Dust really growed on me and I enjoy all the songs on it, just not as much as the others, its a classic. Push the Button is last because, well... I just am not feeling that much magic from it and really, I only LOVE like half of it.
But really, the first three kind of tie for first while the last two for second.

All of the albums mean something different to me. Come with us got me into the chems , Push The Button came to me when i was very down and surface to air got me trough it , Dig Your Own Hole and Surrender are both albums that ive listened trough so much and have great memories on with friends , travelling and stuff , and Exit Planet Dust reminds me a lot of all the traveling i did. Might not make sense to you , but it does to me. I can't simply rank them because there all in a different place in my life. MUSIC wise - if i would loose all my emotions - i would say Dig Your Own Hole is my favorite.

that reminds me of what my brother told me about Dig your own hole : that when he discovered it it was at a party with his friends, especially one friend that killed himself a few years after, and that the album reminds him of this friend and the good times he had with him...

Block Rockin Beats
Dig Your Own Hole
Elecktrobank
Setting Sun
It Doesn't Matter
Don't Stop the Rock
Get Up on it Like This
Lost In The K-Hole

2. Surrender
Music Response
Under the Influence
Out of Control
The Sunshine Underground
Hey Boy Hey Girl****
Surrender
Hey Boy Hey Girl is probably my most favorite song by the chemical brothers. I'm not sure though... when i hear any chemical brothers song i say ''YEAH DEFINATELY MY FAVORITE'' X-D
3. Push the Button
Galvanize
The Boxer
Hold Tight London****
Believe
Come Inside
The Big Jump
Close Your Eyes
Surface to Air
It's hard to say about favorite track on this album. But I love HTL it reminds me of traveling and i love travelling. It also reminds me of the time i went to dublin to see Coldplay.. it was a really sunny day that day.. Its wierd.. Anyway.. HTL my favorite on that album.
4. Come With Us
Come With Us
It Began In Afrika
Galaxy Bounce
Star Guitar****
Hoops
The Test
I really like this album, cause Star Guitar is on it and SG is one of my favorite chem tracks. Not taking the spotlight away from the rest of the songs, just SG is wonderful :)
5. Exit Planet Dust
Leave Home
In Dust We Trust****
Three Little Birdies Down
Fuck Up Beats
Life Is Sweet
Nothing much to say about this album, other than, In Dust We Trust is my favorite track..
The A List
1. The Private Psychedelic Reel
2. Hey Boy Hey Girl
3. Hold Tight London
4. Star Guitar
5. In Dust We Trust
Im sure most of you know how that list came about. Really it was to have a look at how it would work out.. I would probably put HTL to number five though cause i like SG better than HTL.

eventually one of the girls will break down and give us their rankings.......if its not one of these 4 that have already posted, it will either be someone new, Chrisman (or should i say Christinawoman after his sex change operation), or the fun loving XxxsarahxXx and xxxlolzxXx!

1) Surrender
This album is stone cold classic. While perhaps not as innovative and ground-breaking as Exit Planet Dust or Dig Your Own Hole, Surrender is the sound of a group at the top of their game, with the world at their feet.
The opening volley of Music:Response, Under the Influence, and Out of Control is colossal and undeniable. The epic Sunshine Underground, chart-topping Hey Boy Hey Girl, and the funky Got Glint? are other highlights, though there is truly not a weak track on this album.
If I were to recommend one Chems album to a newbie, this is it.
2) Dig Your Own Hole
Another classic. This one pushes the envelope WAY out there, breaking new ground and shoving breakbeat techno well into the mainstream. Elecktrobank and The Private Psychedelic Reel are the highlights, clear examples of bombastic psychedelic madness. Setting Sun is another smash, melding the sounds of two of the Beatles' descendents (Oasis and the Chems) in a hardly-predicted way.
This is not an album to sit around listening to: this is an album to take drugs and go fucking nuts to.
3) Push the Button
The best-sounding of all the albums, the production here is exquisite. Opening single Galvanize is a terrific call to arms and the soaring Hold Tight London is beyond description. However, the album highlight is clearly the closer, Surface to Air, with its euphoric beats and shimmery synths. A couple tracks don't grab me very hard (Come Inside and Shake Break Bounce), but the highlights are stunning.
4) Exit Planet Dust
Although I listen to this one the least, it cannot be denied for its ingenuity and mold-shattering status. Chemical Beats is a classic. Leave Home is a classic. Life Is Sweet is a classic. But don't forget about In Dust We Trust, Three Little Birdies Down Beats, Alive Alone, etc. There is a vitality and a sense of urgency to this album whereby you can FEEL that something new is being created. It began here.
5) Come With Us
This is hard for me, as Come With Us was my favourite Chems album. And being in 5th place here is no slight to the album. Come With Us is a terrific opening track (I dare say the best opener on a Chems album) and The Test is perhaps the best closer to an album (well, The Reel and Surface to Air, but....). In between are plenty of highlights, from It Began in Afrika to Denmark to Hoops to My Elastic Eye.
There is nothing wrong with this album at all, it just doesn't QUITE reach the peaks of Dig Your Own Hole, Push the Button, or Surrender. Still a stunner and still one that rocks my stereo very frequently.
