She is trying to impress us and making us feel guilty of not going to the show. Well i am impressed.

Damn it----- i wish i was with my friends and everyone on this forum. that would be wicked.

She??? She!!!???

Si is a blokes name!! :P

got some crap photos and didn't even bother to attempt to record any of the set...... if I'd taken my MD player I would just have lost it anyway no doubt

If you ever get the chance to see them, especially a live set, move heaven and earth and sell your granny to get there 8)

SeniorChemSi Escribi:

hey y'all

meant to get back on here straight after the gig and tell you all........ but I didn't :P

Anyway....... was an awesome night, Sankeys is a mint club, very dark, kinda industrial (think industrial zone in crystal maze but no primary colours!), nice layout with dance floor at one end bar in the middle and chill area at other.... so you can relax and chat without having to scream over the music, sweet! and upstairs room as well.

Clubbers were excellent as well, very un-pretentious, dressed cool but not dressed-up, and v v friendly :D

Chems were very very excellent. Have to say not what I expected, but I didn't really know what to expect anyway. Played lots of breakbeaty and proggy stuff, then later on threw in some acidy type tunes....... I'm not very good with music labels so anyone else who was there might describe it differently..... you could definitely tell it was the brothers up there though, whole set had a very Chems feel to it.

Didn't play loads of their own stuff though :( we got Afrika ka ka ka mid way (YES!) then Star Guitar (mmmmmmmmm), Under the Influence, and a mix of Hey Girl Hey Boy I've never heard before right at the end 8)

Last hour was easily the best though..... really upped the pace and got the dance floor crazy, despite the really hot n sweaty atmos! They dropped some of their new tunes, one with LOTS of pounding tribal drums going on (but not called 'Here Come the Drums' Tom said after the set), but the best was this almighty crazy insane ACID trip of a monster tune right near the end, OMG the whole place went nuts for about 10 mins..... this tune is fukkin fantastic!!! New album will be something special 8)

They may have dropped some more new tunes in, but the last 40 minutes was too insane for me to distinguish tunes I've never heard before very well.

Got to meet Tom n Ed as well..... said quick hello to Tom in the booth mid set, he remembered me from putting this thread up on here..... then at the end I was waiting for mates when Tom walked past and recognised me so came across to ask how I enjoyed the show etc etc, then Ed walked past so Tom shouted him across to say Hi as well 8) 8) 8)

oh yeah, almost forgot.... after Hey Girl Hey Boy they dropped an acidy mix of the Beatles - Sgt Peppers tune, you know the one goes, "we're sgt peppers lonely heart's club band, we hope you have enjoyed the show......" was canny cheesy but went down a storm...... sometimes cheese just works well :)

all in all an amazing night :D

ChemSi it sounds like you had one wicked night. Thanks for posting your tale, it was a fun read and it brought back some memories of when I saw them play - when it comes to the Chems I like hearing about their live sets from a fan's perspective most of all.
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

Tom.
He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.

They should think about their image as soon as he starts losing hair faster than they grow...

They've always been thought of as nerds, always will.... right?
