Hi, I'm new here, I've placed the Chemical Brothers among my 'favourite artists' ever since I first heard them years ago, but only had my first taste of their genius when they DJd at Fabric on May 18th this year.

It was a spiritual experience.

I wouldn't say I'm a clubbing veteran by any standard but I appreciate DJing as an artform, and this just blew me away, it was completely in a league of it's own. As I scoured the internet for any trace of material that might help me preserve that night in my mind, I could not believe that I didn't know they were playing at the Roundhouse on the 31st. As a student the idea of paying £30 for a gig was pretty much unfathomable for me, and as I sat through the fire alarm, slightly hysterical at the absurdity of the situation, I started doubting my decision.. what a fool I was. The doors opened, we went inside, it was magical.

Basically, I am now in complete f***ing love with the Chemical Brothers. Apologies for that lengthy attempt to convince you of my sincerity, I felt it had to be shared.

Now I would dearly love to get hold of some DJ/live sets. I have managed to scrape a few from here and there but I am sure they are nothing particularly rare. I know this has been discussed in the 'Chemical Brothers Live Downloads' thread, but what I am proposing is that someone who knows what they are doing create a torrent collecting a decent amount of sets and post a link to it.

I'd argue for torrents over FTP/other methods because only a few people have original material to contribute to an FTP which is extremely hard to get hold of and requires some level of technical knowledge to sort out which us common people may not have. I'm sure many of us who would like live sets but don't have anything new to contribute or don't know how would be more than happy to contribute our bandwith. And isn't there also some way to limit users who have a poor ratio?

I realise that this will drastically reduce the exclusivity of these live sets which people have gone to great lengths to obtain or record. If this proposal is violating some bootlegger's code of honour or if it has already been completely rubbished elsewhere on the site then I apologise for wasting your time. But if people are interested in distributing this material to the largest number of people possible in the fairest way I think torrents are the way to go. What do you think?

Try themixingbowl.org

There aren't too many live DJ sets recorded out there and a few good live sets, they should have the majority of ones in circulation.

I am a member of TMB, unfortunately I think it suffers from an overly harsh ratio policy which means that the majority of users never get a chance to upload to anyone because everything is seeded so well! Obviously the health of the community depends upon people making an effort and ripping and uploading new mixes but it seems just a handful of people have the monopoly on that. I try not to download much from there although I would love to rip the site apart because I'll just go over my limit and get banned. Unless you have any ideas on how to get my ratio up? It also seems like the FTP has a great deal more material than TMB.

You just need someone to get up on it like they do over on http://www.hybridized.org/ :)

If you want to boost your ratio, download potentially popular sets right when they come out and others will need it off of you at tmb
