Hey there, when are the chemical brothers gonna do a new tour ?
just kidding.

I was thinking about starting a new tour thread, but seeing as Ben_j already opened new topic...
No I am not meaning to be snarky at all. hehe.
After the Push The Button tour there was quite a lengthy discussion about how the Chems stage set up and presentation seemed dated and tired. And we saw with the last tour there were some significant changes to the way the visuals were displayed. The Chems also tend to re-jig their sets and mix things up through out the tour, adding songs and removing songs.
What are some changes you'd like to see in the set design and how the visuals are played out? More lasers, less lasers? How about re-visiting certain visuals or certain aspects of the set design (for example, Come With Us stage design seemed to be popular).
As for set lists of songs... that can lead to fun discussion on what would be cool to add, good to give a rest, and OK to stay but... errr... if you could, please refrain from typing 20 songs worth of "this is my dream set list". Not to be rude but your dream list isn't anyone else's dream list, and it's likely not Tom and Ed's dream list either. I mean that's nice n'all but let's be give the Chems some leeway and not be so demanding. :P

I would LOVE to see Alive Alone added to the set. There is no real reason for them to ever do so but it's become one of my favorite tracks over the past few months. Such a beautiful, dubby bassline. I think with the looped chorus vocals it could be a great live track. Don't think it likely though.

I don't demand anything and I really don't care about the stage design too. It's fine as it is and as it was. The new one looks a bit more spacey, but oh well. As long as there are propper synthesizers set up, I'm satisfied.
The visuals are splendid and creative (thanks to George).
I'd like to see Ed doing some more tweaking and less walking around (Tom could do his raising-arms-to-the-build-up gesture more often too ).
Nah, kidding, maybe more additional sounds or improvisations like they've already done on their previous tour. Sometimes I got the impression most of the gear is just for the backdrop ;-) -

like ben_j said: hoops/EBW6 should be in every of their livesets and of course this wicked acid version of the golden path.
for the beginnig: the first galvanize opener (not the acid one) which rotates with come with us on every show.
and of course the neeeew tracks with new fresh visuals (maybe 3d if possible)
for the last track: the reel OR the "last track" OR my favourite chems song: THE TEST in a new live version.
i wonder, that nobody wants back The Test.
and different improvisations from show to show would be great (as they were)

I would like them to keep the Saturate/Believe coninuity ! as well as EBW 10.
"Flashback" would be nice too.
I also hope a come back of the Private, but with the arrival of THE new final epic track, it's gonna be compromised...well, Block Rockin' Beats, by the same way it was played during the WATN tour would be cool too.
Avout The Test, I agree with the two ones above.

The Test was amazing to hear live. I can understand why it was dropped when the Come With Us tour was finished - to make way for other things.
The Reel is such a fantastic closer. I thought Sunshine Underground (as well as the Test) worked as excellent closers, too. What's different about Sunshine Underground is that it works when it's mid-set (that song was like it was showcased and peaked perfectly in the middle of the set when I saw them for Come With us - almost as though it was framed by the other songs during the gig) But The Reel is love is all tradition. With those whirring synth sputters pulling the gig to a close it's just so perfect. I'm not sure where it would sit elsewhere in a set list. But I think that's because I've never heard of it being played in a set unless it was the closer.
I wouldn't mind hearing Flashback - or some elements of Flashback - returned to their set. That song is something else! It feels like it's tearing your soul apart in layers when it's played out live.

Something similar to the Akasaka set but add:
EBW 7
Clip Kiss
Morning Lemon
Galvanize (with the opening like the Trieste set)
Dig your own Hole
All Rights Reversed
These Beats Are Made For Breakin
Chemical Beats (duh!)
Base 6
Dust up Beats
I'd like to see Tom and Ed switch positions on the stage. Tom always is facing forward while Ed always has his back facing us, or rearrange the gear so we can see both of them facing us.
Oh, and a bigger screen!
And I Agree with Brother ging..more improvisations!

in my opinion The Test has NOT to make way for other things, cause it's The Test.
or other question: what should make way for other things/tracks/visuals when we look on the WATN tour:
for me: i saw them dropping nude night (which is a veeeerrrry nice track) but in a liveset? naaah...
so drop out midnight madness (which i love), ARR (yes, they already dropped it)...and yes, i'm breaking a tabu: HBHG (or only bits at the beginning or through out). instead: THE TEST, it began..., and the beautiful hold tight london (in that trafalgar version).
must haves for me: hoops (like i mentioned), The Test, surface, out of control.
...i also can live without saturate!!!
