Meh.

I didn't get much out of his set tonight. Left about an hour and a half into it. I got what I needed, I suppose, but I'm not going to seek him out again.

Anyone else have a similar experience? He's had some massive sets, but I get the feeling they're few and far between...

Never saw him live before. I had some of his CD's when he was with John Digweed in the 90's, which were good mixes though, but my music interests kind of peaked later on. After the dagger CD, I never went back to Sasha since his music is too atmospheric and sleepy for me.

I actually really like his mixes. But I think you're on to something with the "sleepy" feeling--he might not work that well at a club?

But some of his sets from, for instance, Ibiza, where the crowds are MASSIVE, are fantastic. Oh well.

I'll seek him out for studio mixes in the future.

I like a lot of Sasha's mixes, but I agree that his style is not for every occasion. Sometimes I really want to zone out to something electronic (but not necessarily downtempo). That's when I bust out my old friends Sasha and/or John Digweed.

I've never seen Sasha live and I doubt will. At this point, the only DJ act I need to see before I die is Tom and Ed behind the wheels.
