Just finished reading this book, it's an amazing book.

If anyone else read this book, don't you think that if they made this book into a movie, the music from further and tom's psychtronic mix would fit perfectly in it! especially K+D+B, snow and wonders of the deep.

Sorry but i think Coelho books are nothing but (closeted) self-help mediocrities. He often appears in Spanish tv acting and talking like a preacher, it´s kind of creepy.

However I can understand his massive success.

I agree.
Coelho writes exactly what you want to read creating a placebo effect.
Same as Og Mandino's book "The greatest merchant in the world", he basically wrote hundreds of pages only to tell me that i will succeed in life if i'm disciplined, ambitious and hard-working. No shit, Sherlock!? Thanks Og, i didn't know that already.
And Coelho's quotes can be cute and true only to 15 year old girls who know nothing about what real life is about.
"A thousand miles road begins with a small first step" What a fantastic quote Paulo, maybe it's genius for insecure teenage girls, but for me you are a douchebag.
You're never too retarded to RAVE!!!

I haven't read the book nor am I familiar with the author's works, so I have no opinion on him either way. Interesting viewpoints here though even if they differ from what the OP was getting at.

Jamalchang, what is the book about - what kinds of feelings or pictures in your mind's eye does it invoke that make you feel the Chems music (or the psych mix) would accompany the story?

I see you guys have strong opinions about the author, but i don't really know to much about the author so i can't say much.

@whirlygirl Basically the book is about a boy who travels to egypt to find his personal legend and about the language of the world and omens. some reasons why i feel it would go is because there's a part in the book were the main character is watching birds fly together in desert so it reminded me of K+D+B, as for wonders and snow always had a magical feeling to me, and the feel has that kind of vibe, so it's something you would have to read to understand where i'm coming from.
And the reason it reminds me of the psychtronik mix is because the book takes place in the middle east and melodic music and the sitar is played alot there or at the time of the book, and the tom's mix uses songs with melodic vibes and sitars. so basically thats why.

I apologize though, I'm not very good at explaining myself.

Hmmm. Intriguing insight, jamalchang. Given the setting of the story I can totally see where you're coming from.

Thanks to Hanna, Black Swan, The Q Award interview (plus chit chat here lately) there seems to be lots of buzz about Chems doing soundtracks. Knowing what they're capable of, them doing a score to accompany a story that takes place in the Middle East seems like it could be possibility if they were ever given the opportunity.
be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle

yup, man was awarded Nobel for Glasperlenspiel - The Glass Bead Game, and have to agree with you, Doktor - It is the best book about music!
...maybe not about music as whole, rather about the soul of the music Posted Image

Paulo Coelho and his book : Veronika decides to die
Emily Young made a film of it. Starring : Sarah Michelle Gellar

Nice!
