Just curious.

Will anyone buy the Japanese import version only and pass up on their domestic version?

I would like to support Tom and Ed's figures in North America, but at the same time, I might want this import version. I like to support my favorite artists and will buy at least one, but it is not likely that I'll get both.

According to a different thread, it looks like "No Need" will be on the US single. The choice would be much easier if we knew for sure that "Seal" would also be released later as b-side like sneakerbeater originally suggested. We've gotten pretty lucky with bonus tracks in the past, so I might just buy locally and wait it out.

What are some other thoughts on this?

BTW - That was an interesting article there sneakerbeater.

If I get a chance I'll get all the releases possible.

Plus, somehow I never spin the japan releases of the albums I have much - only once in a while when I feel like hearing just the bonus tracks - i always feel putting a single right after a beautiful end kinda spoils a chems or any album experience per se.

That apart, I'd love to buy this on at least 3 0vinyls. Someone from LA or around will have to help me with the right online cheap stores where I can find it - I have some relatives visiting there and back in Aug.

I've got two copies of the album pre-ordered but I think I'll still pick up a Japalbum just to have. If 'Seal' is gonna be a b-side at some point then I'll hear it anyway and just keep the album in the collection. Won't be buying it till after the summer anyway.

JacksRevenge:

You just brought up something else on my mind. Adding bonus songs to the end of an album, especially a good one, can detract from the main material. WATN flows perfectly as it is with "The Pills Won't Help You Now" as a traditional ChemBros closing track.

Yep, I'm just going to hope that "Seal" ends up on a single and most likely pass on the Japanese import. Collecting every version, especially on vinyl, sounds awesome but is something I just can't do right now.

Agree that this destroys the integrity of the album. Other solution is the so-called hidden track that starts after 10 minutes of silence. Always hated that...

"That gives the local labels time to saturate the market and in the few cases where no bonus tracks are available, at least no copies can be imported for a set time, until they are releases elsewhere."

mmmm......Saturate

Given that each time there's been an extra track on a japanese release, it's appeared on other releases. Yes, usually the U.S gets a break with all the extra tracks that come as maxi release b-sides... but i'm guessing the same will happen. I'll prob still get the JP version though. :)

I spent a lot of money on the Japanese version of push the button (the one with the DVD and the track giant) I wasn't looking for it I just was looking in a CD store and it just popped up. I think I had a pretty bad day that particular day and I thought I had to treat myself to something. Something slightly expensive. I'll do eBay next time though.

Oh and that answers a lot of questions Sneaks... thanks for the article!!

its a little early but thanks anyway

So who all has adopted one of the nifty desktops from the Japanese site? The first one (on the left) is lush!

I understand the need to get the J-version of the disk, but I also like to support the local music shops in my hometown... which is somewhat limiting as the don't get a ton of imports (especially electronica imports).... so I am all about downloading the additions.
