what the fuck are Arsenal doing! We may aswell hand Chelsea the title.

the cracks in highbury are starting to appear my friend. hope u get a c/l place this year!! would be disastrous if u don't. henry leaving, less cash from tv rights.

Should qualify! Looks like the gunners are making an effort with the champions leauge as the premiership is out the window! I really dunno if Henry will stay or not, alot depends on performance, but i would of thought he would love to walk them out into the emirates stadium for the first time. But over I think after a bad patch they will fill the cracks.

Anyone into hockey? I played it today at school. Fucking brilliant game to play!

Really, the only think I dont really like is when the ball is hit fucking hard at me! I was watching some live ice hockey today at the local rink, now thats a hardcore game!

(Ice) hockey is a blast. I played competitively for 12 years and it is such an intense game. I'm loving the excitement of the NHL under the new rules, opening up the game to more offence. A great time to be a hockey fan.

I miss playing, actually, though indoor soccer has filled the void.

Yeah it looks such a physical game, post players are very big. I have a friend who plays in goal however she is quite small!

Darkstarexodus, how come you no longer play. I allways enjoy indoor football, but on a grass pitch or astroturf is allways good.

So waht do ya all think is the most hardcore sport?

I don't play any more because I ran out of competitive leagues at the local level. I wasn't talented enough (or connected enough politically) to make it to higher levels and when I turned 20 there was no longer a community based league for me.

There are a wide variety of recreational leagues, some at quite high skill levels, but I just never got around to finding a team to join. Then I got offered a spot on the indoor soccer team I'm currently on and the rest is history.

I'll probably play again in a year or two, but footie is the passion these days.

For me, downhill mountain bike racing is the most hardcore sport. That's some scary shit, and I couldn't even fathom doing it.

As for team sports, American football. I'm not particularly excited by it, but I wouldn't face up to 300 pound linebackers 40 to 60 times in one game. Nuh-uh. Everyone who plays football ends up injured and hobbled when their career is done.

how big is soccer in the states? I think USA maybe rated higher than England in the Fifa world rankings?

Looking forward to meeting you at Glint Darkstarexodus.

Personally I think the most extreme/hardcore sport is playboating/white water kayaking. The sports that play with the elements are genrally so cool. Snowboarding is also very good I think, Ive only been once but it was amazing.

Not sure about in the USA, but here in Canada, football/soccer (whatever, it's confusing: I call it something different depending on who I'm talking to!) is the most participated in sport, even above hockey. Girls in particular take to the sport at a young age.

Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to carry over into interest at higher levels and older ages. Since Euro 2004, there's been a major raising of consciousness vis-a-vis football and the Premiership is now on television 4 days a week plus replays of games, and we get ESPN's feeds of the Champions League. Serie A, Ligue 1, and the Bundesliga are also televised frequently, but usually a day or so after the game has taken place.

Props to Everton for a gutsy performance today. I don't care that they tried to break the nose of every Chelsea player when contesting for a high ball; they did what was needed. Arteta is particular was much stronger on the ball than I expected and made Del Horno look like Luis Garcia was defending sometimes. Great penalty by Beattie too, even though I don't rate him at all.

Puts more sharpely into relief Liverpool's dismal effort at Craven Cottage yesterday. No guts, no goals, certainly no glory. The Toffees might yet get relegated, but not if they play like today. My Reds on the other hand look destined for Villa-style midtable mediocrity. Crikey!

Jesus H. Christ! I know it's just the Carling Cup, but losing to Palace? Was not losing at Selhurst Park in the league last year enough of a bloody warning? And Benitez has the gall to praise the effort of his team. Can't even manage a win against a Championship team. Can't say I didn't see this coming though.

I'm appalled. I realize we played a somewhat weakened lineup, but with Gerrard, Kewell, Morientes, and Crouch, we couldn't get a result? And a total joke for the subs...... ugh.

I give up on this season. Wake me up when the Reds field a team that could beat my indoor team. Christ.....

It's funny that this thread is mainly visited by dudes.

Not that we have loads of girls on the website.

But it's funny.

Haha.

I'm into sports though. Occasionly. When the World Championship ice skating ( the fast one ) is on cause that is something typical Dutch. We always own it. And when Holland has to play an important match because the whole country is Orange and the party if we win.

O and i also dig Gymnastics. Like the girl in Elektrobank. it's so amazing what they can do!

Okay enough blabling. This isn't my territory. Forgive me i'm bored.

Chelsea? We won't be catching West Ham at this rate, and they're actually playing more free-flowing, more entertaining football too, on top of it!

And Jeanie, you (and any other lurkers out there) are more than welcome in this thread anytime you might like.

Woot! Finally an acceptable performance today.

Arsenal/Tottenham draw, Charlton lose, United get smashed. If only Everton had managed to lose it would've been a perfect weekend of football! :D Still, we're up to eleventh now....... watch out world... X-D

Sorry couldn't resist X-D X-D X-D. I reckon there'll be a few more London-based Man Utd 'fans' converting to Chelsea today.

Yeah, I love the glory hunting brigade, too. A good friend of mine has infuriated me by slowly but surely trading in his Man U allegiance to become a Liverpool fan. 8O I've tried to explain to him that you just can't do that, but he doesn't seem to understand. Or understand why I revel in every defeat Scumchester suffers.
