i see tiesto is doing a show at disneyland paris. he's just such a cunt.

he maybe voted the worlds number 1 dj, but who gives a shit. its just a list, it means nothing to me.

Yeah thats fucking crap that hes playing there. Its good he brings dance to the masses but its been done before by the likes of FBS @ BBB and other djs playing on a mass scale.

I don't like tiesto music or trance in genral. It also means nothing to me sneaker thats hes no1, the reason hes no1 is cause he works hard, doesnt mean he play the best tunes or is the most skillfull.

Trance right now is in a much better state than it was two or three years ago. Then, it was utter cheese, with DJ Sammy really being representative of the overall quality and depth of the genre. When the whole electro thing hit in 2003, it kicked trance in the ass and even the cheesier/mainstream DJs (AvB, PvD, Corsten, etc.) started playing harder tracks and sets with a little more emotional depth. I've got a few trance sets from the past year and a half (AvB, Marco V, Tomcraft) that are actually quite enjoyable to listen to. They remind me why people enjoy trance to begin with.

The main problem is people (like a couple of my friends) who think that Tiesto, Oakenfold, ATC, et al. are the kings of the genre. I try to rapidly disabuse them of such views....

As for DJs I rate: I really like King Unique.

Don't really hate anyone right now. Since most of my listening to sets is over the Internet, if I don't like the tracklisting, I won't play it.

Well I'm not much of a hater, so I'll just throw in my Faves:

- The Chems

- 2 Many DJs

- Fatboy

- Dave Clarke

- Erol Alkan

- Justin Roberson

- Jon Carter

- Adam Freeland

- Scratch Perverts

- Krafty Kuts

- Plump DJs

- Mixmaster Mike (legend!! lol)

- Me!!

That's from what I've heard anyway. I haven't heard a Tiesto set yet so I'll reserve judgement! :)

Stanton Warriors

Plump DJs

Steve Lawler

Freestylers

Green Velvet

Adam Freeland

John Digweed

Andy C

High Contrast

David Morales

DeeJays I hate:

Paul Oakenfold (Dont hate trance but I dont need to hear this guy - who has a striking resemblance to a monkey - play 'Bullet in the Gun' ever again! Leave it alone!)

Rate:

Richie Muthafuckin' Hawtin - ownz over all

Deep Dish - got me groovin' and movin' more than any other performer, ever

Z-Trip - the master of turntablism

Doc Martin - went in with no expectations, left with a perpetually movin' booty

Disappointing in real life:

Timo Maas - just seemed weak and boring

Fatboy Slim - he's grown predictable, boring, and oh-so housey. when I saw him back in '99 and he was dropping tunes as diverse as "Bring the Noise" and "Taxman" amidst the standard electronic dance tunes, it was a different story...

Photek - ugh, boring house

Hate with a firey passion:

Christopher Lawrence

BT

Pete Tong

Now where do the Chems fall in all this? I dunno. Their greatest strength as DJs is their top-notch taste. Their mixing skills, however, are only, well, "competent" compared to those in my "rate" list, who are well established masters, especially Z-Trip and Hawtin.
