Any fans would like to recommend where I start, if it's really worth it?
that's if i can get off stop listenin to the lips. i got all their stuff, n for a week now i CAN'T hear anything else at all. Coyne has totally destroyed me. I never thought a band could do this anymore to me, i'm almost fuckin 30 dammit! I can't just believe how much i'm addicted to Coyne's music now, the whole band. I love love love this band. N i've just really focussed on 5 albums in the last ten days. Can someone link me to some live videos? I've heard SO MUCH bout the lips live.
I'm goin thru the worst part of my life yet, n what a time for the lips to make their fuckin entry.

this is the reason i visit only a couple of forums, this being my fav.
was tryin to search for an interview of the chems talkin bout the coyne or coyne/ lips talkin bout the chems, no luck. can anybody help?
the only thing i connected with ( i made only halfway thru) that link above was coyne don't sound his regular self on the golden path. oh yes, it hit in, he doesn't, i just played the golden path after listenin to (n LOVIN him on his band), n yes, he's not anything like he sings on the lips, it's straightforward his singing. wonder if the chems asked him to just sing that way, or he thought the tune needed it, cause i've heard (n LOVED) five lips albums till now, n coyne hasn't ever been singin as straightforward n "yes i've seen the light" as on the path.
common stashman i need u here. are there ANY other lips fans here on this site?
n i was thinkin of startin an interviews thread, does one exist already? one were we can put all the chems interviews before the whirled wide web makes them "page not available".

OH! wait, Zaireeka .... have you heard that one? It's actually 4 seperate disks, and you have to set up 4 cd players, and then start them all at the same time to listen to it.
I've never heard it, but it's supposed to be amamamamamazing.

bout the older albums, if u liked soft bulletin, DO get a hold of Clouds Taste Metallic, one of my fuckin favs till now. I love all the stuff, but that album is a fuckin amazin piece of art. If u'r into the downloadin stuff, there's this guy whose put up their entire disco for download. That's where I started, once I'd heard Yoshimi. N yes, i LOVe that album. Damned i love almost everything i've heard till now. Damn, Soft Bulletin is beautiful. SPIDERBITE!!
N i love the last album too, but somehow (tho i've been over my rock n roll days LOOONG back), i HIGHLY recommend clouds taste metallic, i think u'll like it. try it under the influence of sid, if u've really been outta em for a long time, or guitar driven rock.

I need some reccos on the Future Sound Of London. I got a copy of their best of, n i really didn't connect really, tho i'd been lookin forward to them. Is it really a representation of their stuff?

How can you look forward to them if you don't know any of their stuff?
And yes, 'Teachings From The Electronic Brain' is a good representation of their stuff.
Get Dead Cities, IMHO their best album.
The Isness and Alice In Ultraland are different, more psychedelic 70's LSD influenced albums, under their moniker Amorphous Androgynous. But it isn't really FSOL. The Isness also wasn't meant to be released under their FSOL name, but the record company thought it was a good idea as everybody knows them as FSOL, and not AA.

also ISDN is pretty awesome as well.
but for me the classic FSOL is got to be accelerator - calcium, xpander, its not my problem, papua new guinea - so so so so so good :D but dead cities and life forms were also immense pieces of work in their own right too.

Glad you're loving the Lips, I think they are great! In relation to the Chems (Golden Path) I like the way the song is not so much sung but more or less narrated. I have no idea whether Wayne Coyne pulled the lyrics or the singing style out of thin air, but I think it really works with the collaboration. It really made me sad when the song was bashed here on the forum.
As far as Golden Path live, you can likely find the stream on MTV Europe's website when the Chems and the Lips performed at the awards in Scotland a couple years back. I'll see if I can dig up the old thread for you. There was also an interview in the segment with Tom and Ed as well as Wayne Coyne. Wayne was funny, talking about how where the show was being held is in the path of dormant volcano and how funny and awesome it would be if the volcanoe erupted during the show (he is such a loon but I love it!) He also said nice things about working with Tom and Ed, always a bonus!

Welcome to my world, hahaha. If you ever want to see a woman who is fast approaching mid-30's freak out, take me to a Chems show. :P A person can never be too old to let the music take hold. Music is incredible in how it is ever-evolving yet be the one constant in so many peoples' lives.

I'm sorry if the MTV link in the thread doesn't work, but I can't check to be sure at work because my computer is crap.

Try this link : http://www.isohunt.c...hq=flaming+lips
Whirly : Thanks for that link, but sadly the interview and the performance links don't work anymore. ANYONE here can do me a big favour and please put it up if they recorded it, it'd be killer to see tom play guitar doin the song live! Pretty please Glako Fahn or someone?
And Whirly, of course music can do crazy things to you at any age, forget thirty or mid thirties! What I meant is I found it a bit weird discovering a rock n roll band (well mostly) at this age and they blowing me away, I've been outta rock n roll for so long, I still follow some of my fav bands, but the new music I venture into is mostly electronic, and the Lips really blew me away, they'r part of my fuckin a league now, and that was surprising at this age.
And thanks all of ye for the FSOL reccos, different people different fav albums as expected, will try n get the Amorphous Androgynous stuff first, as that seems more up my alley, since Sounds from didn?t really blow me away yet. But then I haven't heard it properly yet I guess.
And slipvin : I meant I was looking forward to them cause I'd heard a lot of likeminded friends talkin a lot bout em.
The Lips are the deal!!
Stash : All the best with that site, it's got many torrents, try look one with the whole disco, it had loads of seeders a coupla weeks back.

I don't like their last two albums at all.
You'll love them if you're a psychodelic hippie.
I love FSOL, and I would highly recommend their albums Dead Cities and Lifeforms[/b]
That's because it ain't FSOL but AA. Same people, different music.
