Okay, so April is upon us, and for many of us who are waiting for the Chembros to "stop by in our town" we are told to wait again for what "possibly" could be a quick U.S. tour in the mid to late summer. That's fine with me man, just announce some friggin dates!! If they need a venue, come to my place, it's huge and I have two acres of yard, ha ha ha. I really hope we can get them to come to the midwest at some point, I mean, I've gotten to see Sasha and Digweed and Underworld in the last few years within two hours of my place. Anyways, I was hoping that the U.S. tour would stop here this month, but now that doesn't seem likely, so please, I'm pleading, come to Cleveland in August or something, the wait is killing me...[/b]

Still waiting patiently for that leg of U.S. dates hopefully. I have no idea how well the album is selling in the U.S.? I'm sure that will have something to do with whether or not we get any dates at all this year or any other year. Oh well. America probably will never catch on to anything that really sounds good. Bastard MTV...and the bastard fans...including all of the stupid Clear Channel radio stations...it's because of your stupid music that you keep shoving down our f***ing throats that bands like the Chems never come to America!! }:-@ Guess I'll just have to break the bank and head over to Glastonbury one of these years to catch them out. Until then, I'll keep my fingers crossed that they cross the pond sometime in my lifetime.

Come to Turnmills for New Years! :D Yeah, I'm holding out for US dates, and I'll go anywhere in North America to see them, but if they wait until September, it will be extremely hard for me because of school to get away. Here's hoping we can be pleasantly surprised.

I want the Chems to play in Vegas. I think it would be a fun place to see a show, a totally different atmosphere than I'm used to.

I could use a trip to Vegas, it's been a long time. I'm up for a road trip from California if I know the Chemical Brothers are going to be at the end of the line.

Here's to hoping that come september possibly we'll get a few dates. I can fly out west if I can get a good deal on the air. Vegas would be sweet. Otherwise, I'm hoping for anywhere on the east coast, even possibly WMC in Miami next year if I can get down that way. Who knows. Maybe they'll come here to Akron and play at a small club or something. My luck, that'll happen and I'll be out of town. ha ha. Keep spinnin, and I'll keep listening.

They won't play Miami next year. Just heard an interview with them the other day where they said it was a neat experience, but not their sort of event. Very unlikely.

^ I remember reading something to that effect. I think Ed said it was a beautiful people kind of crowd and it wasn't really their scene.

But you never know what the future holds.

Please come back to the States Tom and Ed. People really do love you here.

Look at this. We're practically begging here!!! A bunch of grovelers we are - shameful!! ;)

I wouldn't count on the Chems making a million and one stops throughout the U.S. in an attempt to conquer it. That's just not where they are at this point in their career, from what I've read.

It's a bummer for us, especially not knowing when they'll stop by, where they'll be and for how long they'll stay. But to some degree I can understand where they're coming from. With America, they've sort of been-there-done-that and playing the US is grueling and exhausting because it's so expansive. Plus why play a bunch of shows here when they can sell out other places around the world. There's probably a lot of factors involved that they have for not wanting to commit to a million city stop in the US. - besides the obvious personal reasons (on this tour, it does seem like they've come back to their home inbetween continent hopping, which hopefully gives them time with their families, sort of keeps them grounded I imagine)

Good points. The problem is three-fold:

1) North America is geographically large compared to its population. This skews logistics and generally makes it more expensive to tour on a per capita basis.

2) Compared to the fanatic crowds worldwide, interest in Canada and the US could be very generously stated as lukewarm. Obviously there are a number of us diehards, but pop culture over here has given them a pass.

3) North American beer sucks.

That being said, it would be great even if they could play 3 or 4 shows on their way to somewhere else. Even if it was the obvious stops: New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, at least that way people would have the chance to see them. I know I would travel to Chicago or LA, or anywhere in between if it meant seeing the Chems. New York would be done if necessary. Otherwise, if I HAVE to spend all the money to go overseas, I hope Tom & Ed would spare the time to have a quick pint with me (on me, of course). :D No obligation to do so, of course.

Just don't go offering rimjobs. ;) Free beer is a much more feasible option!

I'd buy them a beer if given the chance, just a toek gesture of thanks, that's all!

Touring is such an expensive business - it really is make or break. It has to be lucrative. Planning a tour... that's got to be insane.

Spinal Tap is a funny movie but I'm sure the events in the film are every touring band's worst nightmare. Not saying the Chems are so bad off they're due for a slot at the nearest Six Flags amusement park, puppet show getting top billing of course - and yes, I have seen that movie way too many times! But given the current "lukewarm" climate on this side of the Atlantic, it wouldn't be a good thing if there were cancellations like what happened with Poland... still hoping that the deciding factor in the Polish case wasn't lack of interest... *sigh*

Who really knows for sure though. Push The Button is doing really well here in the States, despite their being no live promotion.

I'm reading into this way too much. I'll just wait patiently for them to announce dates, and hope they'd be up for a drink or 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 however much it takes before my bank account implodes. :D

If I had a left nut, I'd gladly give it to go to Turnmills for New Years. It would be so great to spend New Year's in London, listening to good tunes and hanging with good people.

I'll have to settle for playing the lottery instead. I don't think we'll have the funds to pull something like that off unless a miracle comes our way.

Whoa, whoa, whoa... *Most* North American beer sucks. And that's only when we're talking volume. Yes, the Big Three suck arse and dominate the market, but let's not forget the contributions of the thousands of North American craft brewers. If you ever make it out to SF for a show, stop in at the Toronado pub for a pint of something from Moonlight or Russian River - nothing but world class beer from both breweries. And have you forgotten your own Unibroue?

And you know, I'm not sure Tom'n'Ed are the most discerning when it comes to beer. In the Red Rocks video, Tom'n'Ed are drinking Coors Original, genuine macro-swill that it is...

But we still drink it and complain about Americas or Canadas beer tasting like water......weird no......

I think I've forgotten about much of the joy/disapointment from oakland that I'm up for travelling to see the chems again somewhere in canada or the states.

Of course, you are right Crotor, I was generalizing. In fact, the USA is probably the best country in the world to live in for beer due to the large number of craft/microbrewers. Unfortunately, I'm embittered by the government monopoly on alcohol in my province because it ensures that I can only purchase "macroswill" after 10 PM. And my local liquor store has stopped carrying all of the Unibroue products because they don't sell very well. After a brief peak in beer availability last year, theyre trimming back brands like there's no tomorrow here. :(

Anyway, yeah, back to Turnmills for New Years........ :D

Ah, the news - didn't see this bit til today, since I usually go straight to the forums instead.

"...the Chemical Brothers planned for 21st of June 2005 at Hipodrom, Sopot has been canceled due to licensing and production difficulties due to the late change in venue."

Can definitely rest easier knowing the real reason behind the cancellation.

That sucks, but there's still *some* hope... Have you checked out these places? - http://www.beeradvoc...submit=+search+

Also, if you make it over to Toronto, there's always this - http://www.beerbistro.com/

Rave may be dead, but beer culture is alive and well.

Fort Garry Dark Ale is decent and is pretty much the official beer of the province. The Agassiz products are actually pretty rare around here (though they're decent), surprisingly, and the Two Rivers is now brewed by Fort Garry and is nothing to write home about (except to complain).

The bars listed there are crap. We have a few good pubs but the beer selection on tap is nothing out of the ordinary (Guinness, Harp, Smithwicks, Newcastle, Kilkenny, Boddingtons, etc.) A couple bars have Kronenbourg and Isenbock and the Big Rock line of beers from Calgary. It's not that it's hard to get a decent beer around here, but it is clear that the selection is steadily cutting back because of lack of interest. As it is I couldn't get any Samichlaus for Christmas Day! :(

Mostly I'm just yearning for a vacation and am getting bitchy about my city. Don't mind me! :D
