Unfortunately the festival grounds aren't within walking distance of an area that has bars/restaurants (and if there were, the owners of those places would probably charge money to use the toilets).

Yeah, I don't think camping will work for Jim and I. It's not that I fear porta-potties, it's just. Well, Jim's health is still not up to par and the porta-potty situation... erm, that won't be good for anyone. I'm so sorry, I hate to be a pain in the butt!! No pun intended. Please don't hold back from doing what you all think is best in terms of lodging and finances. If camping is the way to go, then by all mean - go for it!

@Prochem: If you're able to get to Buffalo, NY, you can fly Southwest. It's a really cheap airline--they have $290 tickets from Buffalo to San Diego.

I don't know how much of a trek that is for you from Toronto, but hopefully something will work out for you, man.

I'm still on the fence, but on the "I'm going" side of the fence. =D

p.s. That smiley looks like a penis.

Will tickets sell out, or do they have unlimited? This might be one of those close call deals where I figure out im coming like 2 days before.

Heh - told you the folks on the Coachella board were going to expect a live set! ;)

Oh, I'm in for 3 days. Me and stash, that is.

Where is everyone at with their lodging plans?

And thanks for sticking up for Tom and Ed at the Coachella forum, inchem! Things get pretty heated over there at that forum. Yikes... Anyway I can understand why people would want a live set (because they are fucking brilliant) - and I think people are posting about their wants and desires for a live set are simply doing so out of sheer excitement that the Chems are coming to Coachella.

I think DJ sets from Tom and Ed are special, partly because they're still getting behind the decks the same as they did in the beginning, and also because Chems DJ sets are a rarity stateside. And it gives them an opportunity to let the music speak for itself in a more intimate setting than a live set would. They're long overdue for a DJ set on the west coast of the US, so let em bring it!

It's going to be good fun!

the coachella message board has a vicious case of lightshowmoneky-itis

Personally, I'm really happy it's a DJ set. Other then never seeing them DJ, I can't wait for the potentially new tested track they might try out, and or, dig out some awesome tune we've never heard by another artist that we instantly fall in love with.

AHHHHH I cant wait!

Whirly is going all 3 days!!!!!????!!!! Holy crap how on earth did you convince Stash on that one. Oh wait, never mind, I probably don't wanna know... :P

But seriously, thats totally awesome that you guys are gonna be there all 3 days. :)

I've yet to make any lodging plans, I'm still waiting on everyone else. My fail safe is camping. Whirly let me know if you get hold of a hotel or something.

YAHHHHH!!!!

Thanx Whirls! I know you would've done the same! I'm glad you and your husband are coming out. Good Times! :P

Some people just don't know what their talking about at the 'other' forum and so its pointless now to bring my opinion over there. But there's one thing I do know and that is that T and E only do what they want to do. If they weren't comfortable doing a DJ set, they wouldn't do it! It's their decision, not Coachella's!

Saw your post over there Bosco. Big thanx for the back-up. Whatever Bosco says is law!

Here is me and stash's tentative schedule for the weekend:

Friday - we will likely not be at the venue until early evening (Connor logistics, school, sitter, hotel check-in, etc.)

Saturday - all day

Sunday - plan on being there for good portion of the day but will not be staying til closing as we have to get back home and be parents.

For Friday and Saturday nights we reserved a room all the way out in Twentynine Palms at Motel 6 (2 beds, and it's Motel 6 so they're lax and don't care how many sleep to a room :P ). At $51 a night, that is the closest, cheapest air conditioned, running water and toilet/shower equipped hotel we could find that is within me and stash's sad excuse for a budget. Twentynine Palms is 30 miles from the venue.

I figure this Motel 6 booking can be a back-up plan if your guys' plans fall through and need a place to stay. Or if you want to just make it a plan to stay in the Motel 6 with us, it's been reserved so come on in. For those of you that will need a place Sunday night, I'm sure the motel can either extend teh room one night or they can accomodate you with another room.

@Whirls - If I make it, I'd love to crash. :D

@everyone else - What the hell is up with the Coachella message board? All they do there is bitch about what's -not- going on at the festival and how much more they know about music than everyone else.

That forum is fucking pathetic. And I do realize there is a certain amount of irony in me writing this. Heehee...

If i can do it, I'd have to come down on Fri or early sat and sneak out on Sunday, which I'd totally do! But I may have a new job and I don't want to ask for time off in my first 2 weeks there, seems a bit sketchmo'

I too am very close to scoring a job. It looks like will probably not be able to make it down there (unless there is some miraculous random $500 heading my way).

:( I haven't seen the bros since 2002 (sadface) (sadface) (sadface). But with the economy how it is, I really need to take this job. I hope you guys have fun.

Oh yeah, and Whirly, I talked to my buddy about the Motel 6 and we decided it would be best to camp and save on gas money. Plus, you can't beat the location. So I'm a no go on the motel.

My Schedule:

Thursday April 16th: Flying into San Diego around 2-3pm(ish), I cant remember. Renting a car driving, and then driving to Coachella camp site.

Friday April 17th - Sunday April 19: Attending Festival

Monday April 20th - Driving back to San Diego and taking my flight at 1:45 pm back home to Chicago.

For what it's worth, I have also rented a locker at Coachella and you're all welcomed to share it. http://coachella.com...ead.php?t=26181

I got the medium size one (aka the cheapest). Me and my friend had it last year and it's a lot bigger then we thought.
