NGD was the latest they played - ended a 2.5 hr set with it, blinding version. Someone Somewhere, Love Song, I Travel, In Trance As Mission, Room, Sweat in Bullet... awesome set! Anyway, the old stuff has weathered very well and arguably is more current than some of the stuff out there now. After the time of NGD or Sparkle, it was hit and miss for a few years, then very much a miss. From reading a few recent interviews, it sounds like they've belatedly realised what made them great in the first place. Will be interesting to see where they go from here.

You won't go wrong with buying the x5 package - not only NGD, but the 4 before that as well!

I checked on their site to see if they have come to the US yet but they haven't - so hopefully when they hit California, I can go provided it's not on a dreaded weeknight! My brother saw them years ago (he called me after the show saying they opened with The Waterfront and the intro was like 5 minutes long, haha) I'll keep on the look out for dates. It's been a loooooong time since my brother and I went to a concert.

I have to admit by the time the early 90's rolled around I was getting into other things musically and Simple Minds sort fell off my immediate radar. I liked them but did miss their sound that made me like them in the first place. It's interesting how you mention hit and miss and it seems to be on par with the band's hindsight. Anyway, as a side I spent a semester in the UK and befriended a Scottish guy who took me up to Scotland and introduced me to his family. His mum was the most tremendous Simple Minds fan. When we talked about music and favorite bands she showed me her Simple Minds loot and we spent a nice rainy afternoon indoors and had ourselves a listening session through a good chunk of their cataloge. I think she had a bit of a crush on Jim Kerr, hahaha!

Just got some exciting news today. I'm going to Barcelona for all of May for school. :-o Boom!

Thinking of hitting Ibiza again for a weekend. Was thinking of staying until Sonar but my graduation is the same time back home (and considering I'm finishing my undergrad degree, I want to be there).

Still, I'm excited! Wonder if Tom and Ed will be playing a DJ set somewhere in Europe at the time?

First off, are you trying to make it so that you only have to remember your anniversary once every four years?
Second, Rolodex, nice!
Third, Pooter (if you see this), are you justice of the peace yet? couldn't you have pottentially joined the happy couple?

Congratulations!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

@Rynostar: No, not a justice of the peace, unfortunately. In fact, becoming an attorney does not involve becoming a justice of the peace... I don't think the process is too complicated in California, though.

Oh that's so bad, Ben, breaking your mama's heart like that! ;) not to worry, though - there's nothing like an "I love you, mom" from a son that makes things right in the world.

And Pumisher, Cuba? How exciting! Keep us posted!
