I know alot of guys over here are into making music, DJ-ing or putting music on their computers and work with it from there.

Now I'm a dumbass when it comes to computers, I only got one to read this forum everyday. But can anyone help me out? I'm lookig for a computer program whith which you can record and edit music to/on your computer.

For example: I've got a live show on minidisc and I want to put that on my pc and cut it into individual tracks. Or how do I record streaming audio which I can't download?

Can someone give me a tip on which software I should use?? Oh and it should be simple to use. Like I said, I'm real stupid when it comes to computers.

Thanks!!

to take your live record from your MD you might need Sony SonicFoundry. It was sold with my sister's MD. Then to edit and cut, you can use SoundForge 6, 7 or 8 (it's not free but cracks are our friends :) )

That won't let you take music from the MD, only put music onto it. You'll need to connect the line out of the MD to the line in on the PC, and then use a program like Audacity (search it in Google) to record it. You can chop it up in that too. And it's free :D

Sonic Foundry is a great program. I've been using it for about 7 years and I'm still finding out new tricks. It is really easy to use but it has the potential to do some tricky stuff. You can record music with this and make some pretty good DJ sets, you can make some pretty good ones in hours.

Sonic foundry was the name of the company before sony took them over, soundforge is the name of the software.

Yup I concur! Goldwave is another good program for recording music onto your computer and you can download it for free. Just google it.

blaze media pro a nice all in one app. i used it to re-record my .ova's I bought from sony soundstage to mp3's (recorded to .wav's then compressed to .mp3) and there was no quality loss. The built in sound editor also lets you rip/record internet radio, previewing the wave's real time.

it you want the step up with advanced features and mastering, sony sound forge is the big brother to blaze media. tho im not sure if it handles .ova, .ogg, etc. file extensions.
