I'm finally a good student. I actually stand in disbelief at my current performance!! :D

Midterms will be a good indicator as to how much harder I should be studying or working.

Oh, btw--come to Vitalic October 1st!!! He's bringing his full "live" show, where he has the mirror visuals going on. I had an absolutely FANTASTIC time when he played Mezzanine back in February. Hopefully you'll come?!?!

Other than that, class is about to start. OHBOI! Legal Research & Writing.

Chems related London story.

I had a few hours this morning before school to do whatever I wanted. Most of my group were still finishing papers off for the afternoon class meaning they were in their own little world. I on the other hand decided to go to the Natural History Museum since it is right down the road from my school. Before I left one my classmates warned me that she didn't find it that interesting. This left me with a unknowing sense of what to expect as I walked up to the entrance after getting off the tube at South Kensington. Upon entering and having my bag searched I peer up to see this massively long dinosaur in my face in a huge hall. It then clicks in that I have seen this before. THIS IS THE MUSEUM/DINOSAUR FROM THE HEY GIRL HEY BOY VIDEO!!! KICKASS!!!! The museum was pretty sweet in some respect as I found the swinging human skeletons from the roof, the man and horse skeleton, the huge blue whale, and the T-Rex animatronic. Some exhibits clearly looked like they were from the 1980s and were in dire need of updating.

Nice, man. I'm going to have to get my passport renewed after hearing your stories of your adventures overseas.

I have about a half hour before my Torts class. The new girlfriend is a morning person. :-/

I have yet another session with the personal trainer this evening. My arms feel used. Like a whore. But a high-class whore. ;-)

I can see how that conversation would go:
"There's a group of people who say they want to rent the museum for the night."
"Why would they want that?"
"Apparently it was used in a music video or something."
"Loons."
"They're willing to pay off every employee in here."
"Let them in!"

Well, Fatboy Slim played at the Natural History Museum before... but that was in Los Angeles! I remember because it was on a weeknight and I really wanted to go but couldn't get a sitter.

It's been a decade since I've been to the Natural History Museum in London. We went mainly because it was a nice place to stroll our son around since it was raining outside. Once inside I kind of laughed because, well. Hey Boy Hey Girl. It's a beautiful building. We just don't have anything that old or elegant where I live. So I enjoyed the novelty of just being there again (first time I went was in 1991), in a British museum with my family as they'd never been before. I don't so much recall the existing exhibits being too antiquated, but I do remember feeling overwhelmed. That could have been the jetlag, though.

I approve of the aforementioned "TeaBagging," though it's slightly inaccurate, considering there's no bag.

What do I do till then?
The 2010 tour is over and all I have left is the memories. 2011 is wide open for another DJ SET :)

Weather out here is already getting a tad frosty for mornings, time to pull out out the big ass comforter. Been dating again, but its not a lock-in for the 'meet my family for the holidays...they'll love you!' kind of thing.

Got a promo from work! (ching -ching) Good timing on the needed cash.

Traffic School is around the corner, and i'm not sure if this is worse than jury duty!

Same here Poot! Vitalic's coming over here the next day @ El Rey!

Now if you will excuse me, I have a power shower to attend to.....Peace to all you brothers and sisters!

@inchemwetrust: Nice. You're going to the show??? We'll have to share in the afterglow. On Sunday. Oh, and hopefully you'll find someone to come along to meet the family... I'm not sure that the one I have I want to meet the family, even though I think she's tremendous...

@bloke: Did you see Laurent Garnier live? I'm jealous if you did.

Awesome. Hopefully one day I'll catch his live act... Considering he doesn't really do shows here in the U.S., though...

I've given UNKLE's new album a couple of listens through, and it's unfortunately not the most impressive work to come from Lavelle & Co. I really like the song "The Answer," but most of the other tracks are forgettable. Definitely a bummer. :-(

Time for criminal law...

On Thursday night me and my new girl went up to Manchester (yes I too have a new girlfriend like some of the folk round here. Her name is Anna...anyways). We went up to go see Maximo Park at the Warehouse Project. We booked a hotel/hostel literally across the street from the gig and the train station. I have seen pictures of past Warehouse project shows so I had a little reference of what to expect. Getting there was quite interesting realizing that it is set in an underground car park. Its dark, dingy, and a moody band called chapel club is in the middle of a forgettable set. In between sets me and anna dance to the song that te in between DJ is playing. There was a particular version of Stylo that I really liked with big horns (think it was the alex metric mix). Metrenomy comes on after and we enjoy it for what it is, moderately dancey.

Now I have seen Maximo Park play back home once as a opener to Travis. No one cared for them back home which disapointted me at the time. What a difference this time. The crowd was massive for them. There were hands in the air the whole set. The crowd sang along to almost all the songs like they were anthems. Sweat was dripping off the roof by the end of the set. It was a thousand times better than the last time I saw them.

Coming out I tought of how the chems have played in this space before in the past and the night that must of been. I am a little disapointed that it doesn't look like I will be able to catch a chems show now on this album but I still have hope for the future. The Warehouse Project did not disapoint. It was a crazy vibe, I am glad I made it there after hearing many a set broadcst from there. I may have to see if i can get in for another set.

btw T and E, play closer to your home again. Please.

Awesome Manchester experience!!! Sounds like an awesome experience, man! And I'm glad you've got a new girl. :) New girls are fun, indeed.

Looking forward to Vitalic next Friday. Unfortunately, one of my very, very good friends is leaving the next day. :-( She's having a going away party the night of the show, so I won't be able to close out the night with her. But I will get to say goodbye, nonetheless. And she'll be back, thankfully. But it will be a less-awesome year without her here in San Francisco...

In other news, midterms are three weeks away... :-o

^ I wasn't feeling Head First *at all* I can't put my finger on it... It's not terrible, but it's missing that dark sensual and seductiveness of their past albums that appealed to me. However I liked the stripped down and more airy, acoustic approach of Seventh Tree. I find it quite psychedelic in a good way that seems natural and effortless. But Head First. It sounds like it's trying hard to be retro. I like Goldfrapp though - and I applaud them for trying new things. I'm thinking that maybe if I go back a little bit later on and give Head First another chance, I'll feel something more. But Alison has such an amazing voice, plus there's so many great songs in their catalog, so I'm sure the show will be great!

So, uhm. Now I'll take a minute to check in since this is the place to do it. .

For starters I've been having shitloads of work done on my teeth. It seems the more work they do, the more work they find. I used to have great teeth, what happened? Getting old sucks!

And speaking of getting old. My dad's been quite ill and has been awaiting a kidney transplant for some time now. His kidney's crapped out on him in January and he's been on dialysis ever since. The trouble is he's now in such poor health, it would be dangerous for him to undergo the procedure of a transplant. He's been doing home dialysis, so my mom's been playing nursemaid. It's hard on her, because she's still in good health and full of life. Not really sure which brilliant doc told my dad it would be a fantastic idea for him to give up going to a dialysis center and go the home dialysis route. The risk of deadly infection is so high when the treatment is done at home, and my dad has been battling a bad case of peritonitis for about a month now after being hospitalized. Especially since my relationship with my dad isn't the greatest - it's quite strained and downright shitty, actually there's a lot more to it than I feel like blabbing about - so there's some things I need to come to grips with. I've been feeling so conflicted and torn between pity and indifference, and torn between being compassionate and stubborn. It's an uncomfortable feeling, at best. And that's my debbie downer update for the week.

On a positive note I started school and that's going great so far. I only wish I could get back into it full time, so I can get to where I want to be (which is out of my current customer related position) quicker. But taking the one introductory class in advertising is a good way to get my feet wet and familiarize myself with where I want to go in the field.

The best news is one of my closest friends (my old dancing partner in crime) just had a baby girl last week, so I'm going to check out for now and go meet this precious new life!

Sadly they don't play any song from Seventh Tree and only one from Felt Mountain. As expected 50% of the show was based on Head First, the rest splits 50/50 with Black Cherry and Supernatural plus the one from Felt Mountain (Lovely Head). They were one and a half hour on stage. But it was good invested money (30€) and i did have a nice evening. Here's a video :
