Oh nice, you can assume that when I say deleted I have typed del.e.ted without the dots.
And btw. when the content has been ripped it's easy to do a "reverse language filter" on the posts (well if someone has actually used the "pink flower" it's erroneously changed to you know what but no big deal right?). If the posts are archived we would like to have profanity where it belongs to ;-)

soundertow, it's really cool that you are taking the initiative to do this. It really is awesome of you. If you're going to go ahead and do this I think putting it up on an f-t-p would be a good way to store the posts. I think if you're able to do this "web page" style that would be great!
I'm hoping it won't have to come to this considering it is a large task... hopefully the admin will see my sticky thread and respond. It would be nice to have an idea of what's to come.

The ftp is a good choice unless we want an open archive. Here's what I can do now, this is from page two of turnmills reports thread. Nested quoting was a bit tough to get going but this shows the current situation. It's just a bit more work to rip a whole multi-page thread in a single file. Almost there 8)

I'll continue this monologue. I have now the whole general bullshit chat saved! It took perhaps 15 minutes for the machine to crunch it out but there was a problem with the code that removes signatures from the posts. Hopefully it's now sorted. The GBC thread totals ~2 megabytes.
With the thread in a text form there's all sorts of interesting(?) possibilities, for an example, I can goof up some statistics:
Lets see who has posted the most on the thread (I am assuming it's one of the usual suspects .... and yes, it is actually one of the suspect usuals):
Jeanie 723
whirlygirl 621
Darkstarexodus 513
toomuch'stash 429
Ben_j 275
mippio 263
iguanapunk 224
chemicalfan 186
Bosco 176
irish fan 130
chemicalreaction 111
mX. 65 + robot mx 37
Consumer 79
ACIDCHILDREN 70
mc marsh 65
Csar 25
Slipvin 24
GLAKO-FAHN 10
Yes yes, this is in no way a comprehensive list, I just took some names that were on the thread and did a search.
Bonus features:
DELETED 48
pink shoes 10
soundertow 7

Wow, soundertow, fantastic work!
The thought that I have 500 posts in one thread alone is mindboggling.
Yup, it's the perfect way to see which people have lives and which don't!
The majority of my post binges are when I'm studying, so I'll rack up 500 in a week around exams and then not visit the board for a week while I celebrate post-exams.
But yeah, the point remains.

Cool beans, soundertow!! I think those who've visited this thread so far are impressed!!
I know I don't have much of a life, but that goes without saying. Obviously when it's slow I don't post much. Or I type some ridiculously long post and then I've had my fill. Sometimes it comes in bursts. I did an insane amount of posting in 2003 since I was unemployed for 6 months.
