Did anyone catch the live version of IDM at any recent chems gigs? absolutely mad. That bass is a killer isnt it? Very similar to Under the Influence in terms of,... wel, power.

i reckon i'd go as far as to say that IDM is my 2nd favourite chemical brothers song. Those who know me, no prizes for guessing #1.

Yeah 8) When UTI kicked in, I turned to my mate and went "it doesn't get much better than this". All of a sudden IDM kicked in over the top - "yeah it does!"

At the first Chems gig I went to, we met up with a friend who we lost earlier in the day. Under the Influence was just crazy, and that was my friend's favorite song - but It Doesn't Matter brought tears to her eyes. She just kept saying, "Oh my god, I can feel the music in my soul. I can feel it in my bones!"

The bass is incredible, isn't it? I've never felt anything like it except at a Chems show. It's like the mountains are moving, the earth is rumbling under your feet and spasms of electricity is moving through your body.

Could work... but I reckon they repeatedly trigger the vocal sample while changing the sample start time. blah blah blah etc etc etc

Crap, I just realised you can assign pad velocity to sample start on the mpc, so the harder you hit the pad, the further the sample start position. So there's no need for another sampler/sequencer to make it work, you can do it all in the mpc. Duh. After setting it up, you just hold down "tap" and press the pad with varying degrees of pressure.

If you've got an mpc, try it out, it's heaps of fun!

Also, I had a chat to my mate, and he reckons we read the rumour in a Rolling Stone DYOH interview. Unfortunately most of the interviews aren't online at rollingstone.com though :(. If anyone has a Rolling Stone issue with a Chems interview from around 97/98, check it out.

Yep, exactly. In fact, I could have sworn I was lifted to the top of the Boiler Room tent when Star Guitar peaked ;-)

hmm.... m2f?
He put on a turn-down collar, a black bow, and wore his Sunday tail-coat. As such, he looked spruce, and what his clothes would not do, his instinct for making the most of his good looks would.
