Just thought I would write a short bit about the Southbank Dj set at the weekend for the Benefit of those who couldnt make it....

Arrived at the venue about an hour before hand, the venue was slap bang on the thames. Outside was some cool water fountains that myself and my girlfriend had much fun on! Also bumped into Ed before the gig, was cool that he said hello and we had a quick chat about the Olypia gig, thank for the kind words Ed!

On the Thames there was also a free party really close to the venue, called Trane on the Thame, which was going off!!

The dj set itself was mainly hip hop and older stuff. It was different to what i expect, but still really good. Lots of stuff off of the early mix albums, plus a few bootlegs here and there. Highlights included Leave Home, Digitalism Bootleg and No Need.

Didnt quite catch the end and we left a bit early to drive back to Portsmouth, but overall a good evening and was good to see chems play some different tunes from the social days.

That sounds wicked man. The chems just doing hip hop and older stuff makes me ...

A back to the roots set, yay.

Sweeeeeeeet.

Glad it was a good time. What did Ed say about Olympia? I imagine they were happy with the gig, yeah?

gave his mop a chop,
Old man hairstyles are a flop.

Ed was just asking if I enjoyed the Olypia gig and what i thought, he said that apprentally Tom wasnt very well on the night and that i wanted to do a few other tracks. He said that filming is difficult and takes away from the set if they do it.

After hearing the sort of sets Jon Carter and Stuart Patterson played earlier it doesn't surprise me that the Chems played an old school social set of hip hop and the like. Jon's was very much in the vain of his Live at the Social mix too.

Aw, bummer to hear Tom wasn't feeling well. Glad they didn't cancel, though!
