a) bloc party supporters will buy believe as well as kele's on there
b) chems got a bigger fan-base than bloc party.
might be that bloc party goes in in the top 10 as well but i bet a tenner chems gonna get higher and sell more in general (bloc party will go down in 2nd week lots). just my experiences with british chart history

believe was 2nd track off PTB that was played on radio 1. it will surely get massive airplay because of: virgin record company (u know what i mean) and will sell better than bloc party as

just cos pete tong played believe dont mean its gonna be massive. it will not recieve much day time support as its a little noisy, far to cluby and very radio unfriendly. radio play is everything, radio one probably made the galvanize go in at #3. if they hadn't supported it i doubt it would have made top 10.
bloc party's last single charted at #5 in the uk, they are riding high on the crest of a wave at the moment, they are on the news, in the newspapers, on the radio. you can guaranty bloc party with get a wider radio play.
i stick by my comment

its far too long, too hard to get into (hard to access by the general public), too dirty and clubby and WIERD (when compared to the usual shit u hear on the radio, anyway.)
I think The Boxer or Marvo Ging would have made much better singles in creating Chems Awareness, even tho marvo ging is in my opinion the worst track on the album, it's got that nike tv ad feel to it, kids playing basketball trying to sell crappy made in china shoes. suitably sellout-ish

Boxer has that radio friendly uplifting tune, while Believe is totaly opposite - dark, weird, unfriendly tune. I honestly doubt it will do good on the charts.
To support this, I can give you an example of the Australian radio station 'Triple j', which has been heavily supporting 'PTB'. After 'Galavanize' they have been playing Boxer most frequently out of all the tracks from 'PTB'. I honestly can't remember if they played Believe more than once.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Believe is a bad track, I'm just saying it's a bad choice for a single.

but: i am not with acidchildren saying believe is to be number 1. i am still sure it will hit the top 10. do you really think it will be put out being 7 minutes long? has galvanize been? there'll be a 3 to 4 minutes edit and: why is it weird? there have been "weirder" releases topping the chart.
boxer might be 3rd single. i want marvo ging to be a single release as well but don't think there's a big chance. and i doubt that this one would go into top 10

Wrong wrong wrong; Marvo Ging would not have the mass appeal!!!! But it's a brilliant, brilliant, by the way. I know the Nike sound you speak of -- and it's not here.

that song could so easily be on an adidas ad... i could so see small little black children running around in some brazil shanty-town kicking balls around in their hot new adidas trainers. dont deny it

and as for my post being 'surprisingly good', go fuck yourself you patronizing fuck... i dont actually edit my posts and decide whether people will approve of them, but i guess now that i have your appraisal i can feel better about myself then, huh?
thanks for showing some respect, you child! what i meant was that finally you did not write about where to find records illegally on the net but gave some chemical statement. behave in here, otherwise you'll get banned. that would not be a great loss for us in here.
btw if i want someone to be rude against me it's only iggy. and who are you, junkie, to compete with him?

believe is a stomping club track!! i've heard it twice at tunrmills and it certainly makes the best of their booming sound system. i'm pretty sure i heard it at sankey's in november too, it oozes an EWB vibe. i'm sure live it is gonna be a killer track too. it's a track i love mixing up on my turntables and genrally fuckin up with my effects units.
but as a commercial single point of view, i'm a little confussed. i can understand why they want to get remixes of this track put out, maybe an extended mix. but they could have maybe but an electronic battle weapon douple pack for the dj's and the fans. and opted for a more commercially acceptable commercial release like the boxer.
but at the end of the day this will still be another quality release for a chemical brothers fan. it might not be the most conventional release, but that what i love about this band. they make their own rules, and they are not focused on commercial correctness. they just stick to their own rules!!

I love the unpredictability of the Chems, it keeps me on my toes. I was thinking for sure the Boxer was going to be the next single!

Marvo ging is incredible adidas-ad ish... its got that same bouncy, cool quality to it like that elvis presley remix (a little less conversation)

Yeah! And then they could remix Left/Right and take out all the antiwar stuff and the U.S. army could use it for recruiting ads, pretending it's about how cool it is to be a soldier! And they could license Come Inside to Durex! and have a commercial where there's little condoms singing the vocal sample!
you fucking tard.

I even think Surface to air would work but then they would have to make a radio edit!! :o
As sneaker said, the chems make their own rules! Believe will probably be dissed by the media, but probably by the same people who didn't listen to PTB properly.

They'll have to do one with believe as well. ;)
I understand why you guys are a bit worried bout this choice. But I'm confident, Believe is a great track, very catchy. When I first heard PTB, I immediately noticed this one. Of course it won't be as appreciated as Galvanize was -- hip-hop fans won't come with us that time I guess. But Bloc Party's public might be interested. Moreover, those who disliked Galvanize may buy this one since it's a completely different style and all.
And as Boy with the Golden Eyes said, there have been weirder releases topping the chart. Don't worry.
Wait & see.

Yeah, I think people just freaked out when they heard those arabic violins in Galvanize. "Oh no, they went mainstream and now they use arabic strings as in a bad Beyonc song!" ? well sort of. With Believe, people will know that the CBs are still here and ready to make you move your body.. The track might be a bit too harsh for the general audience, but I remember that Setting Sun (for instance) made pretty well as far as radio airplay is concerned, and that track (SS) isn't particularly the most accessible Chems track ever! So I'm confident about Believe being a single.
