Lauren Laverne played it as one of her last songs on her show today.

I don't like Get Lucky very much. Has to be the most over-hyped disco track ever. If this was released under a different arist moniker, people wouldn't even give this track much attention. It's 70ish disco with Pharrell singing over it...and then some vocoder/autotune vocals thrown in. It honestly sounds like something I hear while at the dentist. Really hoping the rest of the album is not like this at all.

just 30 mins to late :P

found it on youtube:

i keep on agreeing with White Noise: not the most exciting track and the most unofficial takes on this track offer more awesomeness. (as a huge fan of filterhouse that 15 second sample in endless loop with different effects does the trick for me :P )

And yet again, you know it's Daft Punk. Loops, loops, loops, and fruity loops. Easy to digest, nothing to worry about, but the same menue endlessly repeating itself.
This is not a burst generator, it's a mere cash generator. A listenable one, though, except for the cheesy Pharrell delivery. Pooo, this sounds so poppy and mainstream.

Exactly its a radio edit, don't be so quick to judge. It's like judging an entire movie based on a teaser trailer of 15 seconds. We don't know how the song fits in with the rest of the album and at which part it is played. They could have released 8 minute of acid mind fuck but that won't get much air play. The point now is to get a new fans and listerners to buy the album because die hard fans and just regular fans will buy the album regardless. Even if its endless fruity loops all throughout. You can't deny that the track is actually funky as hell and would get a lot of club play.

No no, you got me all wrong. This particular track is downright good, or let's say its premise is pretty cool. But they don't really elaborate on that loop. It comes right in, nothing really happens throughout, except for the nice vocoder action, and then it's over. It's damn funky, alright, and it really gets you moving. So far I like it. But for me it lacks a good song structre, a little build-up, peak and so forth. Even the brothers managed to do that with a less than 3 minute Another World radio edit. That's what has been bugging me about the Daft duo all along. You have great riff, a catchy loop, now go do something with it!

I really like the track, its poppy yeah but its got summer written all over it. I think there is something to be said for not over complicating a good groove. Its worked before for them, i think the Tron soundtrack was something they worked on a lot and did research and really poured over it and that turned out shit, I just hope they havent over done it here

Reading and listening to all the stuff about this album being musician heavy and a reaction tall the EDM button pushing by numbers merchants out there is commendable but i dont necessarily think they had to that. I dont ever think the brothers react to whats out there, they just do what feels like. Further is quite "real" sounding but i dont think they did that because of other bands out there. I think Daft Punk could have done a more traditional daft punk album to show some of these poor quality EDM acts how its really done.

Anyway i have heard one single so not going to judge yet and from what i have heard its essentially a pharrell track anyway.

I have to say the way the anticipation has been built is first class.

after a few listens (at least 10 times) i think i know what this track is missing: there is no break/bridge! Like in One More Time there is that wonderful moment Moroder described. A moment where the whole track is tripped down and gradually gets build up again. that is what I'm missing. They should have done some filter magic an give Rogers a guitar solo in the middle with a buildup to the last chorus where the awesome loop kicks in again.

Edit: i think i mean the precisely the same as Csar :)

Now that's Daft Punk! I knew that 4 minute version was a fake.

EDIT:

Okay, wow. For everyone who thought this track wasn't repetitive enough, here's eleven minutes of Pharell singing over the radio edit of the song, with the vocals left on it, three times in a row:

I was trying not to comment any more on this, I really don't know enough to make any valid arguments, but I lived through the whole "disco" era, and I was sort of hoping that it was left back there. A bit of a "disco" influence certainly can have a place in modern music, but this track, the guitar rift, vocal etc bores me to tears. Am I alone in feeling this way?

I'm sure I read in there recent interview that theres only one sample (from an aussie rock band in last track) most likely AC/DC again. And hardly used a drum machine (only like on 2 tracks?) They did say that not everyone will be happy with it either....There trying something new and trying to grow it seems taking on what they've learnt from past albums and felt restraint from looping things. (in there words) (I think the interview was with Rolling Stone)

Nice! I'll be there to teach the, yet to be born, punks what the "real Big Beat" was like. :P

more on topic: do you guys also keep going back to listening the remixes of the previous released loops instead of listening to the radio edit?

Haven't really listened to the loops, but I finally listened to 'lucky' in it's entirety and even though I don't prefer Pharell singing, it's a good quality track, but not contagiously good!

Also, the latest scoop from The Daft Club is that this song might be the only sample on the record. If so, don't forget that you heard it from Champi first!

And don't go forgetting again!
"Contact" should be awesome (apparently it'll be a fleshed-out version of what Thomas and Falcon are playing here).

Well that'll teach me for not reading all the bloody threads on this one won't it. That Sherbs song could easily be a Kavinsky track too.
