Never smoked a ciggy either. Dont care that much about what it could do to my body since eating a Big Mac or any other fried food will do the same amount of damage to my body. I would rather be more concerned about them burning a hole in my back pocket. Isnt it like $4 a pack or something now? And on average a smoker smokes 2 packs a day. So thats $8 a day x 365 days in a year = $2920. A useless habit for $3000 a year. I dont think so.
But speaking of bad habits, driving is quickly becoming one of them. With gasoline now predicted to be at $4 a gallon by winter, I say fuck that! Im gonna walk, ride a bike, or take the train more often. Ill at least save $100 a month and perhaps get a little more exercise.
But if I do need some kind motorized transportation, Im gonna really have to start looking into buying a motorcycle/scooter, even though I hate them.
And now that i think about it, alchool prices are getting out of hand as well!Fuck! Everything is getting suckier......time to crawl up into a little ball and disappear :x

I'd love to be able to depend on public transportation as a viable means of getting around. I think if a person can do it, then they should. It helps too if you live in the city. If I could live in the city (or a walking town with everything nearby like I used to) I'd never get in my car unless I absolutely had to.
Whoever designed the sprawling county I live in didn't factor in public transportation at all.

Not to drag this thread TOO off topic, but the OCTA rocks! Who doesn't want to spend 5 hours a day on public transportation?
(Actually, OCTA really is pretty decent. I have nothing but good things to say about it. Except to question why there are no options for getting back from LA County after 6 PM except for the train.)

Speaking of cars, I just heard a gnarly accident that just happened on the road beneath the complex below me. Just waiting for the sirens now...
The OCTA is OK, it seems to constantly run late however and the accessibility is a hinderance if you don't have all day. If you miss your bus you're screwed and you've got to wait another hour til the next one arrives. And if they go on strike (which hasn't happened in a while thankfully) it's really awful for the people that depend on the bus. They don't run very late and if you need it to get to work, the system is not very straightforward. We've found it handy for easy access to downtown if we don't want to deal with beach traffic and we've used it a few times this summer so far.

Haha, brings back a few memories!! How many buses and trains did we use to get to Amoeba Tim? ;-)
Cars really don't interest me. I don't drive and I don't intend to at the moment.

i have discovered the secret - chewing gum (not the nicotine type, just ordinary) and peanuts. whenever i want to smoke i pop a nut in my mouth. fnar.
well, its been 5 days, the physical cravings have stopped which is good, they were well nasty, its just habit breaking now.
but its like a switch has gone in my head to 'no smoke' mode, so i think im gonna see it throigh.
giggidy giggidy :D

btw, good job there mips! i hope u can make it finally.
i was never into smokin tobacco, i did get hooked onto it for an yr or so, thanks to my chainsmokin girl, but now she's gone n i've successfully kicked it over the last one month. i am proud.
it does feel good. i have nothing against other people smoking, but i know for me it was just a bad habit i got sucked into since i was trying to quit s'kin pot all the time, n it did help me give up being a pot addict. now i'm a totally clean man.
i wish i can give alcohol. i wish i can rob a bank n go to the himalyas for the rest of my life. or even kodaikanal.

i ahd some booze saturday, and i kind of wanted a smoke but i didnt have one, so thats all good.
That's the toughest test there, I think. If you can withstand the desire for a smoke with a pint, you'll be set.
It's the hurdle most of my friends crash and burn at.
