Tupac feat. Dr. Dre - California Love (remix)
Listening to this on headphones for the first time and I never before realized how much is going on in this track. I mean, beyond the phat beat and that wicked old-skool piano, there are fantastic horn samples, whistles, pads and strings, gospel harmonies, vocal choruses, vocoder harmonies, bells, squiggles, acid guitar all intricately layered and varied. Of course, the chorus features Daft Punk-esque vocodering.
Both Tupac and Dre are at their bombastic best. The lyrics aren't necessarily their strongest material, but the attack is straight up. This is one serious party jam.
This one still gets me on the dancefloor, without a doubt.

Madonna - Sorry
Madonna - Future Lovers
Listening to Madonna's new album and I have to say it's actually pretty good. Solid dancefloor fodder, good pop tunes. I mean, neither groundbreaking nor long-lasting, but a satisfying listen at the same time in pop terms.
Sorry 'stash. X-D

Like Kylie's last couple albums, I know I won't be able to give it a full listen in a few months, but right now it's sounding pretty good.

Steve Miller Band - Abracadabra
Part of Jacques Lu Cont's Fabriclive mix, this is a wickedly unexpected track. So hilarious. Love this mix.
Im playing it too!!! :o fantastic mix!!!
Banging, yet slinky and groovy. Great old school and new school. Classics. Unexpected tunes. Great mixing.

Portishead - Wandering Star
I prefer the live version, with its painful piano, but the menace of the bassline in the studio version is certainly affecting as well.
I think it may be impossible to dislike Portishead. Quintessential "cool" band. And Beth is dead sexy when she chain smokes during a concert. Wish I could see them live.
