Aww, Whirly. ^^ I agree. I know I'm the resident n00b, but I'm glad to hear all of this from you all. And, nah, you can have a kid and still do what you love - both my parents are artists (dad's a musician, mom's a dancer) and they never stopped when I was born. =P I grew up learning the fine points of MIDI set up and that the OBxa is one of THE most awesome analog keyboards out there. ^^
So have faith, my chemical brothers and sisters - Ed's only gotten luckier.

Depending on who you are, having a child inspires you to write music even more. It's what your child does and acts towards you that makes your music evolve, for better or for worse. It can change it or alter it into something else, which really boosts your creativity level. I wouldn't know because I don't have kids. My inspiration is normally my favorite artist's music (Chemical Brothers, Beatles, Coldplay, etc.).
Congrats, Ed and Lily!

I can imagine what their first conversation must have been like...
Ed: Hi, I'm Ed!
Lily: From the Chemical Cousins, right? I love your music! Palookaville is my favorite!
Ed: Yeah, I think I saw you on the telly a time or two. Say, um... Wanna have a baby?
Lily: Sure!
Ed: Wicked. Behind that building should be well nang. Don't think anybody's look'n..

So I just get a call from my mother-in-law:
"Hey!! I just heard that Lily Allen and Ed from the Chemical Brothers are having a baby!! Did you know?"
"Yeah, Linda - I heard last night..."
"Oh... so is everyone talking about it on the message board?"
"Well yeah, of course!"
"Oh, I wasn't sure you'd heard, but since it was Chemical Brothers related I should've known better. I think it's really exciting and cute!"
.

.
My mom-in-law is all infatuated with babies and everything that has to do with babies. She's all into being a grandma. And even she sends her best to Ed and Lil!

Back to the point of having children and making music; a perfect example of how it works well is Roger Waters. This year he toured with his own son, performing "Darkside of the moon" in its entirety.
Wouldn't it be awesome if Ed had his kid come on stage a dj with him!?

XP Reaction, Gill = fired. I still snickered, though.
Music and offspring is a cool cool thing. My dad was mr. under the radar in the 80's. He's a fantastic keyboardist. Was on Star Search in '87, as silly as it was. Anyway, he wasn't huge, but he was and still is a musician. And I totally got the gene. We are known to jam together, we've made a few songs together in his studio. In a miraculous show of familyism, we even wrote the first song my mom ever used for her arial dance group back in '02-'03.
Yeah, I know it's me ranting on about my weird family, but it's the best example I could come up with. So, right on, Ed! I'm sure the little one will be as cool as you. =)
AKA, Prochem, yes. It would be freakin' awesome.
