The stage setup was marvellous, too. They had those kind of light bulbs randomly set everywhere on stage and they were flickering and waving in response to the sounds (especially at the beginning of svefn-g-englar). They used some led visuals as well, which were set up above the band's (I counted at least 10 members) heads which subtly accompanied their music incredibly well.
I hadn't listened to any new material beforehand but what I wittnessed was purely amazing. Also astonishing was the sound itself, crystal clear and bright. Jonsi hit every tone and was singing more in a deeper than in his falsetto voice.
The only weird thing about this concert was the opening act which was basically a guy behind the decks and a girl. They would play and repeat some sort of beat over and over, very darksih, very depressing, and she would just whipser and scream into her mic producing weird sounds and noice, nothing intelligible.
Anyways, I loved what I heard and heard what I love. Definately not my last Sigur Ros concert.

I've been sort of a fan of their sound since I came across Vanilla Sky in 2004 when I did a civil alternative for military service (we had to choose between them in Germany at that time). I worked with handicapped people in a special school and one day a teacher gave me the dvd and asked what I thought about the movie. Anyways, right at the end of it the nothing song was on and my interest was kindled. I'm maybe not a die-hard fan, only own two albums, but do love their unique sound.
When I got to see Heima several weeks ago (this film is a pure goose bumps generator), my whole body forced me to catch any opportunity to experience this myself.
Seeing Heima, it almost moved me to tears because of the sheer beauty of the nature, sound and the people coming together. So I guess, you had a fun time in Iceland!

Thanks! It could have been my second show, too. But about 5 years ago, I decided to not go for whatever stupid reason. Now I regret it sincerely.
Did you see them in San Fran? I imagine this might be a gorgeous backdrop to see them open air..

I saw them in Marin (north of San Francisco) at an auditorium where everyone was seated, and I got seats rather close to the band. Takk had just come out, and it was an UNFORGETTABLE performance.
The second time I saw them was at the Bill Graham civic auditorium here in San Francisco, which is a really awesome venue but I would have liked to sit down. I was in the "general admission" area and I longed for a seat. Nonetheless, I loved the performance, possibly even more than the first, even though the first was a more memorable experience, if that makes sense...
