last night marked that night i was looking forward to all damn week. Fatboy Slim live at the Metro in chicago. Wow, that was a unbelievably wicked awesome show!! for those of you who have seen him live, id like to hear some of your reviews/stories or his show. Fatty is basically a really kick ass dj...he had this one DJ open for him (no one seemed to know his name, i didnt know if he was a chi-dj or not) but he was fantastic, really got the crowd pumped before fatboy slim came out...i wish i can remember the tracklist, it was sweet though...he only played about 3 of his songs(slash dot slash, jingo, everybody needs a 303, and somethin else, but i cant remember) i cant remember the name of this song but its a rap song with the lyrics"turn it up! bring the noise!" and "soap on a roap i get treated like soap on a roap and our beats n lives are so dull" was mixed into White Stripes - Seven Nation Army...ive never heard such a sweet remix of that track...bass was pounding!! oh, btw, he opened with Walk Like an Egyptian(2 minute buildup :D) it was fuckin great, his buildups rocked all night...towards the end he mixed a very energetic remix of Franz Ferdinand - Take me Out...omg that awesome, the crowd loved it...driiiiiving bass for that one 8-) but definitely one of the main highlights of the show, would have to be when fatty mixed Hey Boy Hey Girl!! i so didnt expect it, but i love it! so did most of the crowd, some people werent singin, but i was and so were other people---breakdown---HERE WE GO!! .....ya it was fuckin great show...i would kill for a bootleg :-D:-D

Clearly sneaker you have not be listening properly to Norman or had you head stuck up your own.........!!!!! Fatboy is a great dj, maybe not techincally very good but knows how to work and crowd well and is full out party dj. So what if he play cheesy shit, no one else has the bottle to. Hes a cool broke who has done alot for dance music, bringing it to the masses.

if you read what i said in that thread i agree that fatboy is a totally sorted gezzer, mr nice of dance. and he has helped raise the profile of dance music. the problem is when i here him mix i cringe, its painful. and this side of the millenium i have only heard him play dodgy house tunes. i've seen him empty a room at fabric. he is purely hype and cheese, i just preffer music with some depth

It's probably to do with the fact that he has about 6 pints before he even gets near the decks. I don't get why people do it, DJing is a skill requiring the upmost concentration and dexterity. How the hell is alcohol gonna help??

Nobody has their head stuck up their butt, come on now and be nice!

I enjoy Fatboy Slim, I enjoy his music for what it is (cheese and hype and a good ol time) and I know if I see him dj, I'm going to have a fun night out.

But sneaks is right in that he's not the most technically gifted dj. But Fatboy is a showman, he has stage persona and he is a superstar dj. He looks right at home on the decks in a club. He works the crowd and looks like he's having a good time doing it (drinks and all) and when he's up there it's all about the good times. It's just his style, no need to look into it further.

I saw him dj at Coachella a few years ago. He was on right before the Chemicals (they did a dj set too) and I was in back of 2 people - a guy and a girl - who were up at the rails. They were having the best night of their lives. I'll never forget those 2. Midway through the show, the guy turns around and his pupils were wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide and he was gurning. He grabs my shoulders and says, "I love this man! I LOVE THIS MAN!!!" at which point I just laughed and said, right on, now turn back around. You're missing him!" Fatboy played a nice booty shaking set and was a good opener for the Chems. I've only seen him one time so I can't say he was in top form, I just don't know. Anyway, it was all a part of having a good night out and bless those 2 people in front of me, they were in heaven and to see that, it's what it's all about.

Saw Fatboy in 2001 at an Advent*jah festival. He played for 2 hours and played some amazing mixes. The only tunes I can remember are Retox, start of Right Here Right Now, some Madonna track etc. What I do remember is that he did some insane mashups, mixing really unlikely tunes and getting awesome results. I got bored after about an hour though... it was good, but not great.

Hmmm, unfortunatly I haven't seen him live. What can I say about his music? - well, yes, it's a dance music, thats why I like it. He can make really nice tracks if he works hard (actually the last tracks Ive heard - Slash Dot Dash and Don't Let The Man - dissapointed me). Honestly, I can say that I am/was kinda fan of Norman. If any musician-begginer asked me for some advice of Big Beat music, I would name Fatty for sure, cause if you are a real musician you will find some interesting tricks in every style! And guys plz (not addressed to all of you) don't concentrate on one style, - Big Beat is not Chems only, Rock is not Red Hot Chilly Pappers only - every style has some directions as one colour has shades, so you should accept them too.

Yer hes def a party dj, maybe the type of crowd he draws dictate what he plays. When i saw him at turnmills be played a much more darker set than he did on brighton beach when he was playing to the masses. But to call him 'rubbish' is a bit extreme. Hes more achived more than anyone on the forum, except ed and tom.

Ok, let me just say I have been a fan of Fatboy for years now. This was the first time I ever saw him live, and I want my $30 back. He was HORRIBLE to say the least. The guy who opened for him was better for crying out loud. Fatboy came out and started out ok..nothing too exciting, and then it was all downhill from there. I wouldn't even call it mixing. One song ended and another began. Of course, I can't forget to mention that he played ROCK MUSIC for an entire HOUR!!! }:-@ I mean, I love rock music, but I didn't go see Fatboy Slim to hear 3 Strokes songs in a row, etc. So many people left early. I think FBS was probably very drunk to play that badly. I've read that he brags about drinking before going on stage...sounds like someone has a drinking problem to me :-P FUCK YOU, FATBOY, I WANT MY $ BACK!!!

The Chems never let me down when I saw them live.
