NOOOO!! Fuck that is sad. I am lucky to have seen them twice live but I was looking forward to more.
Further Remixed There's nothing else...

I should have clarified--I was absolutely lucky enough to see them live in 2010.
Nonetheless, still gutted that I could have seen them live again. Still fucking sad about this.
I thought with Wonky they were signalling that they had life left in them...
And it was fucking better than decent! Damn.

Paul Hartnoll, formerly of Orbital (which came to an end last year), will release his self-titled new album under the name 8:58 on March 30 via ACP. Today, he's shared a video for his single "The Clock". It stars Cillian Murphy (Batman Begins, Inception), who also provides vocals on the track. Watch the creepy, Luke Losey-directed clip below, via Pitchfork.tv.
"I’ve always been interested in time," Hartnoll said of the song in a statement. "I’ve always had a thing for clocks, and for time as a powerful force—but also the way time oppresses you. It’s one of those things I keep coming back to."
The 8:58 album will also feature the Cure's Robert Smith, Ed Harcourt, the Unthanks, and Lisa Knapp. Find 8:58's forthcoming tour dates below the video.
Hartnoll met Murphy while working on the score of the TV show "Peaky Blinders", which he collaborated on with Flood and PJ Harvey.

Just a heads up, three days left to pre-order the album, there's a signed deluxe version with an instrumental CD and a bonus track: http://www.pledgemus...eightfiftyeight
It'll probably be pretty hard to find once the pre-sale's up.
I was skeptical at first, it kinda sounded like this was going to turn into a bizarre vanity project, but hearing the teaser made me jump for it! 8:58 is really just a continuation of Orbital without the name, and this sounds like it might be the best album since The Middle Of Nowhere.

I will hope for an 8:58 gig in the states!
Good luck with that, He's recently cancelled his UK gigs, so America seems a long way off.
He's an honest guy I'll give him that:

See a longer comment from Paul on facebook.
Which means i really wish I'd been to the gig/club night (Fri 20th) that Eddy TM put on at Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes where Mr Hartnoll did an Orbital/8.58 live set for a rather intimate crowd of a few hundred. And you could get in on the night for five quid. D'oh!

Paul Hartnoll @paulhartnoll858 · Mar 20 Ok , I'm ready! Remember "the fun stops here" and your in for a fiver. If you have a cancelled gig ticket it's free
I guess it just shows the power of the name that an act builds up. Probably why Neil Barnes knew that his new music had to come out as Leftfield and why some bloke called Tom is happy to tour as The Chemical Brothers whilst the other brother majors in Psychology and Twitter.
Maybe Paul should have pretended they were still Orbital and that Phil just wasn't going to go on tour...

So the album is streaming HERE. I guess Hartnoll is a big Cure fan. I'm not that crazy about the Robert Smith collab, and the cover version of A Forest later on (without Smith) certainly doesn't put my head in a spin like the original does.
The album isn't quite as good as I hoped TBH but it has it's moments. Particularly this one which gets better as it goes on.

He recycled it from his first solo album The Ideal Condition in 2007, and the original version of 'Please' is way, waaaay better, check it out here:

I'm not that crazy about the whole album either which I'm upset about. But I haven't given it a good proper listen either. So no final judgements yet.

I've heard it 4 times now and my first verdict is...
8:58 is to The Orbital what The Crystal Method is to the Chemical Brothers. Many elements are roughly the same but the magic, depth and sophistication isn't there.
I enjoyed his mix way more TBH:
