One of these days, I'm going to get to Amsterdam and have Jeanie give me an official tour, a girlie week of fun and tripping.

Fuck that would be so wicked to have ya'll in Amsterdam. That would be SOOOO wicked.
We would than go to the beautiful dutch country side and take mushies! And go to Awakenings. You will all have to plan youre trip around a Awakenings party. They are the best rave ups you'll ever go to.
I know a Amsterdam meet up is not gonna happen in the near future but hey, one can always dream! ;-)

We have tried, Sethful. *sigh*
Once my husband makeskidskill started a thread about a forum vacation and we couldn't decide where we should all go that would be convenient for people who live on all 4 corners of the globe.
My vote was for Mexico. It's affordable, beautiful, with friendly people who know what hospitality means. And there's something so appealing about sitting on a beach drinking beer, chatting and relaxing with friends, looking out at the ocean beyond civilization.
Other than that, we've had a cozy forum meet up at our house (we live in S. California). Jeanie, mippio, Darkstarexodus and mcmarsh (along with mipps' friend Glyn and Jeanie's friend Luna) all came out for a long weekend to kick off their US road trip. Oh man, that was so much fun. It was such a great weekend, rented a big van and went clubbing to see Josh Wink in Hollywood - the weekend was like a giant slumber party (but we weren't really sleeping all that much, hahaha). Darkstar's been to our house a couple of times besides, too, just kickin' it.
It's good!

We should try another venture like that sometime!

now that is a shame. chem_sis. you should take a quick vacation... ( c:
As much as I would love to go to either of the CA shows, the budget won't allow it. but if you are ever in the illinois area, let me know.
Furthermore, it is too bad that you don't live near san francisco... cause I will be there next week (9/19 - 24)for a work conference.

Yeah, saw the buzzed posting and thought--why not?
I just had an awesome picnic with my girlfriend in the Presidio overlooking the Pacific ocean, drinking Mimosas with indian food and an artisan cheese, organic fruit combination. +4.25 on the bourgeoise scale.
Then we took the bottle of champagne and a spliff into Golden Gate park. San Francisco has never been so beautiful.

We just got back from south of the border not more than an hour ago. What a tremendous pain in the ass.
We hit traffic heading down south, picked up a friend along the way and once at the border we parked our car and walked across. Then we got a cab to Ave. Revolucion and went straight to this bar where stash and his friend had a couple servings of absinthe and I sucked down a Pacifico with lime. We walked out of the bar, and the whole street is like some giant pharmacy - some pharmacies even had big speakers set out in front of the store blaring loud, pounding techno, haha. But htere were people walking past us whispering "pills - viagra, cialis, oxy, vicodin". It was like a Grateful Dead show, but really sketchy especially when truck loads of heavily armed Federali are cruising up and down the streets. Anyway - Bought a crap load of stuff that will hopefully keep me sedated so I don't explode with anticipation before September 29 (yeah, I have no life!) and even managed to score some oxycontin believe it or not, off some random guy on the street who tried to get us to go into his strip club.
Then we meandered around some more, our friend braved some horrific looking street tacos, stash bought a pair of hiraches sandals, and we got our son a spiderman Mexican wrestling mask. Then we made our way back to the border where we proceeded to endure the dehumanizing hour-long wait (in the hot dry heat no less) to get across the Mexico/US check point. Then once inside the check point, we had to wait another 20 minutes but at least it was air conditioned.
On the drive home it was smooth sailing til all of a sudden we hit grid locked traffic where we crawled roughly 20 miles per hour top speed for... oh... about an hour or so. I was driving my manual shift car, so that was really fun. We saw the source of what was causing the traffic - there wre cops and flares set up all along the side of the freeway, and what looked like a body bag that had fallen off the back of a truck. The whole deal was really exhausting, this whole Tijuana excrusion thing. But it makes for an interesting story. I think... Well, it'll be interesting and more worth when I sample the wares purchased south of the border. But right now I'm pretty beat.

I had the best martini I've ever had tonight at a family function. Out for dinner at a pretty ritzy restaurant, my mom is bitching at me to stop drinking (at two drinks) because I'm going out later and I have to drive a bit later (fair enough). So, since it's on her tab, I order a vodka martini (shaken, not stirred, of course) and insist that it's made with Ketel One. I can honestly say that the difference between regular vodka and premium vodka is significant. I need a bottle of Ketel. Seriously. It made that much of a difference.
Then I went to the club, thought I was having a crappy time, convinced myself to give it a chance, got half-twatted, had half a pack of cigs, had a blast. Too bad clubs close at 2 AM.
