..with my trolley between Newquay and Gatwick Airport last week on a flight but didn't talk to him

only said hello and then fucked off. I figured he wouldn;t want to be bothered. he had his ear plugs in on the flight and I had my 'that's Tom Rowlands' stare on

I was listening to 'we are the night' at the time on my pod but didn't have the cajones to speak to him!

I regret it horribly

any close encounters of the chemicals kind?

Yeah--I met Tom & Ed when they played in Los Angeles. They both gave me a hug. I was ecstatic.

I was definitely impressed by their laid back nature, though not surprised.

i bumped into ed on his way to the cloakroom at Turnmills (the closing night this year). It was insane, he asked me what my name was and then we hugged haha. I kissed Toms hand and called him a "fucking legend" at a Dj set in fabric. Lol i'm straight, but it just had to be done!

Hey, even if you're not straight, that's okay too. ;-)

::laughs:: I'm sure Tom was honored.

I swear every time I think of meeting them in LA with you, Bosco, Whirly, and Stash my brain just sends out a truck load of "happy thought" endorphines. nothing like it... chemicalstreaks, you should've gone up to Tom, shown him WATN on your player and been like, "You listen to this album before? cause it's hot"

when they do Dj set you can normally spot then around the club. They don't get that much hassle because not many people know what they look like.

Nothing is better then winning from ed at wii-tennis, but I lost from tom. I didn't expect to get backstage at the Antwerp show back in november last year. But it was a surprise from the great Jeanie :) talked with them about some music, playing wii yeah that was cool!! It's one of the best nights in my life! And it's the best you can get as a chemical brothers fan :D thanks again guys!

Hey chemicalstreaks, that would've been funny if you did what Biff said came up to Tom and asked him if he ever heard We Are The Night, hehe. He probably would've fucked with ya, because he could and I gathered he has quite a dry sense of humor.

Not sure about the rest of you but I find it awkward to approach anyone that's well known - I just hate to be a bother. I've met a few famous people over the years, but I'm not much of an autograph seeker and besides I can be shy and at a loss for words sometimes. A couple of those times I have met famous people I was just a kid, with my parents who were too chicken to go up themselves so they sent me to do their dirty work. :P So yeah, the approach can be awkward. You never know what kind of day people are having, and especially if celebrities are trying to have a meal or are out and about with their families I think it wouldn't be right at all to just run up and be all freaky and star struck.

Tom and Ed were super nice, and so gracious and kind to me and my husband. I was nervous at first... I know they are human, but they are heroes to me in a way, and I respect them so much as I always have over the years. The nervousness ended almost immediately when they greeted us with a warm happy hellos and hugs. Both of them are genuinely nice people, polite, funny and witty, and had ZERO rockstar type attitude. Very approachable. Being able to meet them was a blessing... It only makes me respect them more.

Quite a few people here have met them and I've yet to read anything here or around the net that says negative things about when they've met Tom and Ed.

yeah, think they're good people that enjoy what they do, that's certainly a model for everyone. I think for me if it was like Tom or Ed, I'd approach them because I do have insight to their music, but if it were a musician I didn't really know or care much for (Jack Johnson)I'd be like whatever. But I'm sure they appreciate being appreciated and to know first hand their music is making a massive difference for some of us

I never met Tom or Ed! Saw them 3 times and still haven't met them! (Cue the violins!)

At least your not alone Laura!

you should've abducted him. Then forced him to play concerts in your basement just for you.

Den B, thats pretty fucking sweet.

Although I certainly appreciate the short time I got to be in Tom and Ed presence. I would've loved to been able to be around them when Stash and Whirly were able to talk to both of them. I dont think I would've said much, I would've been way to shy. But having met Whirly and Stash twice now, they are fantastic examples of "people persons" and are awesome in conversation. It would've been quite epic to hear the banter between all 4 of them.

I couldnt stop grinning when you two told us the story the next day at breakfast. As a matter of fact I think I was smiling all they way home that day. Just an amazing weekend. Gah, sorry, I'm babbling

I don't know if I could approach Tom either, or any member of a band I like a lot, for that matter. The connection I get with music, at home and at concerts, is just such an intimate thing. It wouldn't feel right to talk to the person as if he's just another human being.

It only feels right to communicate with artists when music is present, which I've done a lot, actually! I have a concert persona that tends to get communication from the band ;) Name a member of an electronic group, and it's likely I've gotten a high five or at least a smile from them.
