But what opened me up to that album was giving it another chance, and finally seeing the Chems perform on the Come With Us tour. It's like the songs fully blossomed at that point, a door was opened and my perspective changed completely. I happily choke down those nasty words I said a long time ago! Lesson learned.
Anyway Rachel I hope you get a chance to see the Chems perform again, later on in the tour or maybe in a festival setting. I've seen some incredible shows over the years - U2 a number or times, David Bowie and NIN, Pink Floyd... Real memorable, 'one for the history books' shows. I'm here to tell you... there is something very, very special about a Chemical Brothers gig. It's a mix of sound, sight and feeling, and it's something that would be awesome if every fan could experience at some point because it really is fantastic. I think the Roundhouse shows were unique in that they showcased previewing Further and I would assume the shows might be re-jigged to be more tour friendly and festival friendly sets. Which would include bringing back some older material and working it in with the new stuff. Their shows also evolve, too.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

The thing about Come With Us is that, at the time it was announced, the new Chemical Brothers site had just gone live and it had this funny little anonymous forum on which people could post under any name and say whatever they wanted to say. At about the same time, the promo got leaked all over LimeWire in a rather poorly-done 128kbps mp3 rip; the sound quality was awful and distorted a lot of the tracks. It was not well received, and a lot of the forum members later regretted having listened to the leaked version and willed to listen only to official releases thereafter. I, personally, enjoy the album, as do several others. It's the favourite album of some (Jeanie? Among others, I'm sure.).
I've drifted from the point, but I'd like to say that you should please say what you wish to say and reckon not that you must conform to find acceptance here. The majority on here becomes either heated or totally disinterested in reading any post that has any sort of preface suggesting that Chemical Brothers music from the Big Beat days is where it's at to some exclusion of their later output. It is unfortunate, as their newer music may well rouse you less than their older work so may.
I feel this post has wandered too deeply into redundant territory, so I end it here.

I was told once that I should go on Big Brother
My mate said : ' You'd be pushy and crazy and they'd hate you, then we'd see your soft side and then you'd probably end up winning'
I wasn't sure how to take it but it sure sums me up

If I could make a suggestion to you Rachel, that would be to get on the Chems Discography, so you can see how the Chems developed and progressed over the years. As for the 'Further' album,(IMO) although there is high feedback already from the positive reception from us forum members, do not conceive that we are trying to convince you to enjoy it, it's just that you have to convince yourself.
I was 26 when DYOH came out! When I heard the 2nd track, I was already convinced that I was going to stick around these guys for a long time!

Hi there, just wondering, maybe I didn't say, I do have all the albums I used to get them when they first came out after DYOH, is that what you mean by get the discography LOL?
I do like the progression but feel after Surrender I personally wasn't too keen, I still bouth the albums anyway, although that said I love most of the tracks on the rest of them, the first 3 albums are the only ones I can enjoy start to finish, no skipping

It's their most underrated album, and one of their best (my personal favourite).
Come With Us is in every way better than Surrender, and Hoops is a masterpiece. (many other songs including The Test, Denmark and Star Guitar are on similar level)
