Am going to choose this for today. Mainly because i played it to some people on an internet radio thing i am on last night and it went down really well.

Really impressive that the remixers managed to get their stamp on such a chemical classic.

And the whole thing between the bands is really touching really, could have been a lot messier

I love that mix! At the time I heard it, I hadn't warmed up to Elektrobank, it was just "too out there" for me, and in my opinion back then, this made Elektrobank listenable. And it really does for those who don't have the patience for the harshness and weirdness of Elektrobank, it's great stuff.

And the story between the pairs of brothers is a good one too, here's an interview circa Surrender's release:

NYROCK:
In the early stages of your career the Dust Brothers threatened to sue if you didn't change your name. Now they've remixed one of your tracks...

TOM:
Yeah, that was some shock. We loved them, admired them. That's why we called ourselves Dust Brothers and when they threatened to sue we were shattered.

ED:
Yes, but now that they remixed one of our tracks and we remixed one of their tracks everything is fine. It's a great compliment, after all they were our heros and our inspiration.

Sorry, i appear to be taking this one over but am working from home and a bit bored so i will choose another one today. I tend to be picking remixes for some reason.

Anyway, I chose this because when i heard this was happening I thought it was wrong, i considered Hey BOy Hey Girl as an untouchable and iconic track that couldnt and shouldnt be remixed successfully.

I was wrong. Very wrong, love the intro, simple and funny.

And then the beat and all those shrieks and effects work really well. And the slowed down here we go at 4:10. Love it.

At first I was disappointed too by the soulwax remix, but now i quite like the electro-rock feel they gave it. it reminds me a bit of "all rights reversed" with the intense electro groove.

for today, the nihilist masterpiece "it doesn't matter"

I love the cut up vocals, the minimalism and the incredibly strong high-hats. It is the "don't think" of the 90's with the same deep basekick. I felt quite angry recently and this track helped me gain a more realistic perspective on the issue because, well, it doesn't matter!

It doesnt matter is a great track to mix with.

On the zane lowe masterpeieces interview the boys said they got a lot of shit for this wehn it came out as it was flat 4 beats which they hadnt really done before.
In fact the whole section of that interview was really interesting, they talked about the guy they sampled the vocal from and invited him down to a gig.
I really should have copied that interview/commentary

Yeah, It Doesn't Matter gets you to a great place in those driving beats. I was hesitant to put it on at first, but then I gave it a full listen through and was once again swept away. Love the track and the transition into the next track.

It doesn't matter is one of those rare tracks that never really clicked with me. Back in the days when I discovered this track the first time I was kind of turned off by the straight for on the floor beat (being a huge big beat parishioner at that time - still am, but not restricted to that particular genre anymore) but I liked the vocal samples nonetheless.
Today, I still can't really enjoy it because not much ever happens throughout that song. When I learned that the IDM vocal sample from Lothar and the Handpeople was used almost unchanged spoiled it for me even a bit more.

Don't Stop the Rock on the other hand grew on me much better when I had shaken off the shackles of must-be-big-beat than IDM did.

Often-forgotten nugget from the b-side archives. One of my favorites for the simplicity and rhythm and the way everything comes together in the peaks, as well as the "false ending".

Awww man there are some great very low pitched subliminal sounds in this one which are completely maddening. Also like the heavy bass action.

really hated this at first but got into it eventually, sounds like proper old school detroit stuff like kenny larkin, carl craig, model 500 etc.

Nude Night is one of the only three Chemical Brothers tracks that I simply do not like.

I think this is the perfect place to share this awesome, early live version of Under The Influence which I found last night:

Nice find. It's not really an early version though - EBW 3 was already out by the time they played Homelands, and Under The Influence is always really different when they play it live, even from show to show.
