Really impressive that the remixers managed to get their stamp on such a chemical classic.
And the whole thing between the bands is really touching really, could have been a lot messier

And the story between the pairs of brothers is a good one too, here's an interview circa Surrender's release:
NYROCK:
In the early stages of your career the Dust Brothers threatened to sue if you didn't change your name. Now they've remixed one of your tracks...
TOM:
Yeah, that was some shock. We loved them, admired them. That's why we called ourselves Dust Brothers and when they threatened to sue we were shattered.
ED:
Yes, but now that they remixed one of our tracks and we remixed one of their tracks everything is fine. It's a great compliment, after all they were our heros and our inspiration.

Anyway, I chose this because when i heard this was happening I thought it was wrong, i considered Hey BOy Hey Girl as an untouchable and iconic track that couldnt and shouldnt be remixed successfully.
I was wrong. Very wrong, love the intro, simple and funny.
And then the beat and all those shrieks and effects work really well. And the slowed down here we go at 4:10. Love it.

for today, the nihilist masterpiece "it doesn't matter"
I love the cut up vocals, the minimalism and the incredibly strong high-hats. It is the "don't think" of the 90's with the same deep basekick. I felt quite angry recently and this track helped me gain a more realistic perspective on the issue because, well, it doesn't matter!

On the zane lowe masterpeieces interview the boys said they got a lot of shit for this wehn it came out as it was flat 4 beats which they hadnt really done before.
In fact the whole section of that interview was really interesting, they talked about the guy they sampled the vocal from and invited him down to a gig.
I really should have copied that interview/commentary

Today, I still can't really enjoy it because not much ever happens throughout that song. When I learned that the IDM vocal sample from Lothar and the Handpeople was used almost unchanged spoiled it for me even a bit more.
Don't Stop the Rock on the other hand grew on me much better when I had shaken off the shackles of must-be-big-beat than IDM did.

Often-forgotten nugget from the b-side archives. One of my favorites for the simplicity and rhythm and the way everything comes together in the peaks, as well as the "false ending".
Awww man there are some great very low pitched subliminal sounds in this one which are completely maddening. Also like the heavy bass action.
