Hmmm, the admin here really knows what they are doing!
I have hosting and can setup the LATEST (:p) phpBB and a domain if people are interested. Admin accounts for all the usual suspects etc.
Problem is that people flock here as the first point of call - it's official heh

While I am in favour of moving out of here in the current situation I think we have to reach a general consensus about where we should go first.
One important thing is that phpBB (or some other forum software) is easy to set up but who is able to quarantee that the new forum will still be up in, say, a year?
I think that IF we move out from here we need a dedicated server run by someone who is taken to be very reliable. Free hosting services might fall down or just refuse their services after a period of time. (I'm assuming here that free.fr is a hosting service.)

It does have an edit button :P
free.fr is a free hosting service, but it's reliable, and is enough to run a phpBB. I have experience in running a website, and forum, and I know what to add to prevent spam and everything.
And even if we want to move to a more serious host, we can copy the database and recover all of the previous posts, my forum is just a temporary solution.

i think if we do move anywhere else its always gonna be a temporary measure.
for some reason i have a misguided faith that this board will be fixed properly.
I'm with you on that, I also think it's kinda funny that the majority of this board voted against jumping ship to a new board a few months ago!!!

I hope the new admin sorts the problems out. And fast.
In the meantime, yeah - ben j, it's a good plan to jump onto a dingy until this place is sorted out. I don't want to, but.... But if it's going to be weeks to months til the official forum is worked out... the admin/EMI has to realize there is a delicate balance at stake here. The greatest music on earth brings us here, it's the people that keep us here. If the forum's down or continues to be in the state it is in, it's looking rather unwelcoming at the mo to put it mildly.
I am still so sad about anType's account and all his posts. So much trivia bits he knew about the Chems - gone. :(
People - I want to be optimistic but don't put it past the label or the powers that be to make this place disappear. Without warning. It happened without warning to the old Chems mailing list and it very well may happen to this place too. Even if its only temporary. Any posts you've made that you want to save, better use your notepad and word programs, copy and paste.
