Hey folks,

Yes, I know I'm like two years late, but I hunted down the stems from The Salmon Dance and gave it the glitched out dubstep treatment. I tried to bring out the inherent psychedelic qualities of the track, while doing justice to old school Chemical Brothers with a new school twist. Some of you will like it, others won't, but it is what it is.

Enjoy :) I had a ton of fun making it regardless.

Nice work but dubstep isn't music.

It's OK. It just seems way too simplistic. Not enough going on, I think.

:D that is EXACTLY the way i think about dubstep in general and this part of dubstep particulary!

Is it possible to dance to something like that without looking like an complete idiot?

Doing the Salmon Dance and looking like an idiot go hand in hand.

You're not supposed to dance to every kind of music. So, dancing isn't a sufficient indicator for music

E(argasm) = m(usic) x c(hemicals)²

you can bounce your head to dubstep!

no seriously, when i spin some dubstep in a club people are dancing to it in a "drum and bass like" way...lol

but it's all a matter of taste.

for me: dubstep=LIKE!

Here are some seriously banging dubstep tunes I could dance to:

THIS is how you dance to dubstep: http://www.youtube.c...h?v=8lLqqR2pcws

To be fair, this isn't even what would really be considered dubstep. This is more like "glitch-hop", maybe glitchstep etc. It's a melodic, intelligent (think IDM), bastard child of dubstep.

What that is dubstep. Rusko made it. Although everyone fucking makes new genre names so it probably is glitchdub psystep etc.

Dubstep

all you need to know (SUPER BIASED)

Old shit is outdated and completely boring. Everyone loves Skream. Other than Oskilatah he bores me http://www.youtube.c...h?v=59wcfuWQYzs

For a moment, despite all of the shitty dubstep made (98% of it) there are a few who have sounds I can't just go and copy. Excision, Datsik, Downlink, Magenta, 16Bit. Yes they are being overplayed probably, but that is good because they are actually quality. THIS IS WHERE MY BIAS SHOWS SO MUCH. Caspa, Rusko, Skream, etc make the extremely dub-sounding dubstep which I am not a fan of anymore. It is boring and outdated. Jakes makes some nice tracks. http://www.youtube.c...?v=tmRZJp2usr0& if you've listened to Excision's Shambahahahsllaha 2009 mix you will have heard this toward the end.

Excision and Datsik. If you could only listen to one song by them... hmm. I'll go with this http://www.youtube.c...h?v=6p5_cQIhCuk

HOWEVER ILL ADD OTHER GREAT SHIT TOO

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=yUc3cNWv5g8 (womp womwomp womp womwomp)

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=AHLd8FCmgE4 (tension)

http://www.youtube.c...?v=IPR63M1IKmk&

http://www.youtube.c...?v=Hcxvpayf5qA&

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=RHKUkGAebeg

Once you can identify that bass growl that Datsik makes you can appreciate these other tracks

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=iuDKXQj9frE

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=mP4youwvOOQ (the first half is dominated by Datisk, then Downlink takes over)

DOWNLINK?? HEY LETS POST SOME OF HIS SHIT

well I only have his Ignition EP that everyone has

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=VgTmtTeGHqc

I won't even bother posting Gamma Ray since you've probably heard it at this point. WHATS THAT? YOU SAID YOU HAVENT? YOUVE ONLY HEARD ALL OF THE RUSKO REMIXES AND THE KID CUDI DUBTEP REMIX? OH AND THAT SCARS DUBSTEP REMIX? Good thing I'm making this post!

Moving onto

I think it is called "chillstep" or something. Possibly more jazzy, DEFINITELY downtempo dubstep. Appleblim, Peverelist, Shackleton (wait did I just mention all of Skull Disco Records), and of course the superb 2562.

2562

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=tpg-rHVta7Y

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=yPF4iUIrJN4

his alias, A Made Up Sound

http://www.youtube.c...h?v=U4LI7uJNlv8

although those songs probably have a different genre name because of the structure I still call it dubstep

Ive lost my train of thought

Any body know how to project the Salmon dance onto a big screen without it being pixelated? Is a DVD available?
